N.A.Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908) was a composer, a teacher, a batonist, a public figure, a music writer. He he received his education in the Morskoy corps in St.Petersburg. He graduated in 1862 and took part in the cruise on the clipper "Almaz". In 1859-1860 he took music lessons from a pianist F.A.Kanille. In 1861 he entered the music art fraternity "Mighty Handful" ("Moguchaya Kuchka"). Rimsky-Korsakov was the professor of the St.petersburg conservatoire, naval department brass bands inspector, Director of the Free academy of music, the chapel manager assistant, he chaired the Belyayevsky coterie and appered as a director of operas and symphony concerts. But opera was the main sphere of the composer's creativity. He created 15 operas.
