The New Year celebration first appeared in France. Charles IX passed the order in 1594 to celebrate the New Year day on Jan 1. The holiday came to Germany in the late 17th century and it appeared in England in the 18th c. The stamp features a candlestick (gzhel ceramics) decorated with fir-branches, toys and candles.
