The Rostov Enamel evolved in Rostov, Yaroslav Region, in the 18th century. The miniatures were painted in transparent fireproof colours upon enamelled copper surfaces (small icons, portraits, landscapes). Later flower ornaments and compositions started to be used again. The stamp features a miniature icon (late 19th c).
