A wooden Triumphal Arch was created in 1814 to the red carpet welcome of the Russian troops returning in triumph from Western Europe. But the memorial soon went to rack and ruin, and in 1826 it was decided to build a stone Triumphal Arch. O.I.Bove was ordered to design it. The construction of the first Moscow arch-form memorial since 1812 lasted from 1827 to 1834. In the period of Moscoe reconstruction in 1936 was knocked down, and it was only in 1968 that the Arch was rebuilt and set on the Victory Square not far from Poklonnaya Gora.
