The Great Moscow State Circus was opened on April 30, 1971. Its auditorium has a capacity of 3,300 seats. During its fifty seasons, the Great Moscow State Circus held more than 20 thousand performances, which were attended by over 67 million circus-goers.
Today, the circus employs more than 500 people: acrobats, gymnasts, clowns and animal tamers, musicians, stage directors, choreographers, painters, servicing and administrative personnel. About 100 different animals are involved in the performances.
