Bellflower (Campanula) is a genus of exclusively herbaceous plants from the Bellflower family. There are more than 400 species known that grow in countries with a temperate climate in meadows, in forests and steppes, in desert and rocky sites. Under natural conditions, it is found in the Caucasus, Siberia, Europe, Central and Western Asia. Some species are listed in the Red Book of Russia.

Bellflowers can be both perennial, annual or biennial. Flowers have the form of a small bell of blue, white or a variety of purple shades. The flowers are collected in the racemose inflorescence or paniculate form. There are both stunted and high species.

In Russia, the bellflower is considered a flower of joy and a symbol of love, honesty and openness, a talisman that can ward off evil forces.
