The All-Russian Society for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture (VOOPIK) is a public organization that was established in the RSFSR in 1965. In July of 1966, the Constituent Congress of VOOPIK took place.
The main goals of the society’s activities are the protection, restoration and promotion of cultural heritage objects (historical and cultural monuments) of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.
During the decades of the activities, thanks to the efforts of the Society thousands of cultural heritage sites were protected from demolition and restored.
The envelope with the original stamp provides an image of the Staraya Ladoga fortress (Staraya Ladoga Historical, Architectural, and Archaeological Museum-Reserve); the commemorative stamp features the building of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture.
