The Mossovet State Academic Theater is a drama theater in Moscow, honored with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1949) and the Order of Lenin (1973). It was founded in 1923 by writer and stage director Sergei Prokofiev as a theater for workers of the Moscow Provincial Council of Trade Unions.
Currently, the Main Stage (894 seats) and the Under the Roof Stage (120 seats) offer performances based on play scripts by classic Russian and world playwrights, as well as young writers, staged by directors of different generations and creative positions. The repertoire of the Theater includes 32 productions, representing a wide range of genres and aesthetic trends that are of interest to audiences of all ages.
