The Evgeny Vakhtangov State Academic Theater is a Drama Theater in Moscow whose history began with a student studio theater. The official date of its establishment is deemed to be November 13, 1921.
In 1926, the studio theater was renamed as Evgeny Vakhtangov Theater after the name of its founder and the first director. In 1956, the theater was assigned the status of academic.
Nowadays, the theater has an affiliated theater school named after Boris Schukin. Currently, the Vakhtangov Theater has more than 40 plays on its list of production.
