In 1941, Liza was sent to regional courses of party and Komsomol workers in the city of Kalinin (now Tver). During the Great Patriotic War, Liza Chaikina led the underground organization of youth, took an active part in the operations of the partisan detachment operating in the Velikiye Luki and Kalinin regions.
