Edith Piaf (1915-1963) - the world famous French singer and actress.

She was born in the artistical family in Paris. Edith gained by singing on the streets from an early age. In 1935, Louis Leplee, the owner of “Le Gerny” nightspot drew attention to Edith and starred her as “La Môme Piaf" (The Little Sparrow).

In 1941, it was filmed “Montmartre on the Seine”(fr. “Montmartre-sur-Seine”) with Edith Piaf in the lead role. Michel Emer, composer, wrote for her the series of musical compositions bringing glory to the singer.

The postwar period was the period of unprecedented success. At this time, she performed "La Vie en Rose" (1946), the song that has become the visiting card of a French singer. In 1947, Edith went on tour to Greece, and then to the United States. In 1954, the actress starred in the historical film “Secrets of Versailles” with Jean Marais.

The original stamp contains a composition of symbols of various kinds of art: a lyre, palette, books, a quill, column and a theatre curtain. The main image depicts Édith Piaf performing on stage.
