Kazakov Matvey Fyodorovich (1738-1812) is a Russian architect, representative of classicism style, he also worked in pseudo-Gothic style.

Since 1768 he has participated in the Expedition of the Kremlin building, in the creation of the Great Kremlin Palace (1768-1773). By order of the empress Kazakov has changed Bazhenov at the construction of the Usadba in Tsaritsyno (1786) where he has erected a new building of the Palace that remained unfinished. In Moscow Kazakov elaborated several types of town houses and public buildings which organized large town spaces: University at Mokhovaya (1786-1793), Golitsynskaya hospital (1775-1782), House-Usadba of Demidov (1779-1791), Petrovsky Palace (1775-1782). In 1776-1788 he built a building of Senate in Moscow Kremlin organically included it into the ancient ensemble. In 1786 Kazakov reconstructed the Lobnoye Mesto (Place of the Skulls) on the Red Square.
