Every year on December 5, a Volunteer Day is celebrated in Russia.
Volunteers are people who are willfully involved in charitable activities without getting money or financial benefit. They are ready to sacrifice their time, effort and skills to help those in need, to support social and environmental initiatives, and contribute to public welfare. The movement of volunteer organizations in Russia began to develop rapidly in the early 1990s.
The postage stamp features a symbolic heart with images characterizing areas of volunteer activities inside it.
