JSC Marka in cooperation with KAVKAZ.RF launches a series of postage stamps dedicated to the resorts of the North Caucasus.
The North Caucasus is a multinational historical, cultural, and political region of Russia. It comprises the northern part of the slope of the Great Caucasus Range and the Fore-Caucasus region, as well as the west of the southern slope until the Psou River. The most promising resorts in the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District, both in operation and under construction, are combined into the North Caucasus Tourism Cluster. Among them are all-season tourist and recreational complexes Arkhyz, Elbrus, Armkhi, Veduchi, Mamison, Matlas, Tsori and the Caspian coastal cluster.
Elbrus is a mountain resort in Kabardino-Balkaria in operation since the 1970s. It is one of the key centers for all-Russian and international winter sports competitions and training of alpine ski teams of the country.
Arkhyz is an up-to-date young resort in the mountains of Karachay-Cherkessia. It is an all-season resort visited by up to 700 thousand tourists a year. It hosted its first guests in the winter of 2013, and presently, it is one of the three chief alpine ski centers of the country.
The Arkhyz postage stamp shows a general view of the resort and the figure of a snowboarder; the Elbrus postage stamp features the LeapRus high-mountain shelter and a group of mountaineer tourists.
