The K. Timiryazev State Biological Museum was founded in 1922 by Boris Zavadovsky, an academician, a prominent expert in physiology, endocrinology, and biology. The Museum is located in a former homestead of Russian collector and philanthropist Pyotr Shchukin.
Nowadays, the collection of the Museum amounts to more than 90,000 depository items. The exposition covers all the branches of biology. The collections are unmatched: anthropological reconstructions, clamshells, botanical exhibits, zoological collections, wet preparations of abnormal embryological development and a lot more.
The postage stamp provides an image of exhibits and the building of the K. Timiryazev State Biological Museum.
