Emissions of state valuable postal matter in April

On April 11, a postcard with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 50th Anniversary of the launching of the Raduga (Rainbow) spacecraft will go into postal circulation

On December 22, 1975, the country's first serial geostationary spacecraft Raduga (Rainbow), designed by company Information Satellite Systems named after Academician M. Reshetnev was launched. The Raduga satellite gave a start to the large-scale use of geostationary orbit by the Russian cosmonautics, which is currently in the highest demand in the satellite communications industry. It became the embodiment of the technical solutions that were for the first time applied both in Russian and global satellite construction. The design and layout of the Raduga are recognized as a reference point and have been used in the development of the majority of spacecraft in the world.

The satellite was for the first time fitted with voltage stabilization equipment, which made it possible to improve the characteristics of the onboard power system by 20%. The Raduga also featured a three-axis spacecraft orientation system with autonomous orientation of solar batteries, which ensured constant rotation of their wings at the speed equal to the orbital velocity. This function of tracking the Sun was applied on the satellite for the first time in the world practice and subsequently became a classic one.

The satellites of this series have successfully proved their reliability, providing high-quality communication and TV broadcasting services even beyond the guaranteed lifetime.

The commemorative stamp provides a symbolic image of a carrier rocket being launched into space; the main image features a 3D model of the first Raduga communications satellite against the background of the Earth in outer space.

In addition to the issue of the postcard with a commemorative stamp, JSC Marka will produce special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Baikonur, Yevpatoria of the Republic of Crimea, Penza and Chelyabinsk.

The architect erected in Russia ensembles that caused admiration and gained world fame: Palace Square with the General Staff building (1820-1830), Senate Square with the Senate and Synod buildings (1829-1834), Mikhailovskaya Square with Mikhailovsky Palace (1819-1825), and Alexandrinskaya Square with the Alexandrinsky Theater building (1828-1832).

On April 25, a souvenir sheet dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will go into postal circulation in the framework of the Joint Issue of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus

The Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a heroic feat of the Soviet people, an example of unity, solidarity, selflessness and love for the Motherland.

The first days of the war demonstrated that neither the surprise of the attack nor the heavy blows of the enemy could break the will and steadfastness of the Soviet people. Having passed through years of trials, the Red Army took Berlin by storm on May 2 of 1945 and hoisted the Great Victory Banner over the Reichstag. The Act of Unconditional Surrender of Nazi Germany was signed in the suburbs of Berlin on May 8, 1945 at 22:43 Central European time (May 9 at 00:43 Moscow time). The Victory in the Great Patriotic War ensured freedom for new generations.

The year of 2025 has been declared in the CIS countries the Year of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the Year of Peace and Unity in the fight against Nazism. Victory Day will forever remain a day of remembrance and gratitude to all those who gave their lives for our peaceful future, who returned to their homeland with victory, who spent days and nights forging it on the home front.

The souvenir sheet provides an image of the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1-st Class; the margins of the souvenir sheet feature photos taken by E. Khaldei and V. Grebnev.

Rich and diverse is the fauna of Primorye and the Far East. Of special beauty are butterflies of which there are more than 2,000 species.

Many of them are endemics. One of them is Luehdorfia puziloi, a brightly colored soft yellow butterfly with black bands of the Papilionidae family. Only one plant is a food plant for it: Siebold's asarum. The caterpillars feed intensively all through the summer, pupate by autumn and overwinter to close the cycle next year.

June is the beginning of the flight of Mimathyma schrenckii, named in honor of the 19th century ethnographer L. Schrenck who discovered it. It inhabits the Lower Amur, Primorsky and Middle Amur Regions, as well as Korea. Forage plants are hornbeam and elm. Usually these butterflies live high in tree crowns and come down to water bodies only on hot days.

Sericinus montela is a butterfly of the Papilionidae family. In Russia, it is represented by subspecies amurensis, which inhabits the south of Primorsky Krai. The butterfly is found mainly in riverside biotopes, on steep low slopes of river terraces in areas with herbaceous twisted birthwort, which is a food plant for Sericinus montela.

Epicopeia mencia belongs to the family Epicopeiidae; it is common in the south of Primorye and Khabarovsk Territory. It inhabits valley-growing broad-leaved liana forests. Caterpillars live in communities, pupate in the upper layer of soil in a cocoon. They overwinter in the pupal stage.
