On November 4, 2023, the International Russia EXPO will open on the territory of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements (VDNKh). The exhibition demonstrates the most important achievements of Russia in various sectors of economy, including industry, energy engineering, the agro-industrial complex, transport, construction, information technology, science and culture, a positive experience in the development of the country's regions, and promotes further international co-operation.
The event will include regional days and business weeks, as well as a cultural and entertainment program, festivals of culinary traditions and a fair. Its participants will include all constituent regions of the Russian Federation, federal executive authorities, public organizations, state corporations and representatives of foreign countries.

Gliding is a type of sport and recreational activity, which implies pilots flying without the use of propulsion in specialized aircraft referred to as gliders. Under favorable weather conditions, experienced pilots can fly up to 100 km before returning to their home airfield; sometimes the flight distance reaches 1,000 km or more.
The beginning of mass development of gliding in the USSR is considered the Ist All-Union gliding tests on November 7, 1923, in Koktebel, which accepted the first records of the USSR.
The development of gliding in the USSR is connected with the Society for Assistance to Defense, Aviation and Chemical Construction (since 1951, named DOSAAF). In 1934, the title of Master of Gliding of the USSR was established. In 1948, the All-Union Gliding Section was arranged, and since 1966, the Gliding Sport Federation of Russia started its activities.

Submarines of Project 955 Borey (955A Borey-A) are a series of Russian strategic nuclear-powered submarines of the fourth generation. They are carriers of intercontinental ballistic missiles, thereby providing strategic deterrence in the interests of the country's global security. They are designed by the Rubin Central Design Bureau and are under construction at JSC PO Sevmash.
Submarines of Project 885 Yasen (885M Yasen-M) are a series of Russian multi-purpose nuclear-powered submarines of the fourth generation with cruising missiles. They are distinguished by conceptually new complexes of radio-electronic weapons, automatics, the main propulsion plant and technical means. The tasks of these nuclear submarines are to fight against submarines and ship groups, as well as to strike at enemy surface facilities. The project was developed by SPMBM Malachit and the submarines are under construction at JSC PO Sevmash.
Submarines of Project 677 Lada are a series of Russian multipurpose diesel-electric submarines (DES), which were designed with the use of a number of innovative solutions, including radio electronics and high-precision weapons systems. Low noise level, high automation and powerful armament allow the submarines to perform effectively the tasks of destroying enemy equipment, defending naval bases and conducting reconnaissance. The project was developed by the Rubin Central Design Bureau and the submarines are under construction at the Admiralty Shipyards.

Ancient fauna and flora are objects under study of paleontology. Its main task is to study and reconstruct, from the remains found, biological features, appearance and lifestyle of extinct organisms, as well as their evolution and kinship relations.
On the territory of modern Russia, fossil species have been found and characterized of living organisms from all periods of the Earth's geological history including representatives of the mammoth fauna - a complex of mammals that evolved about 100,000 years ago in the extratropical zone of Eurasia and North America.
About 11 thousand years ago, due to sudden warming and humidifying of the climate, which led to radical changes in landscapes, the mammoth fauna broke up. Some species, such as the mammoth, the woolly rhinoceros, the Irish elk, the cave lion and the cave bear perished from the earth.
Wild camels, horses, yaks and saigas survived in the steppes of Central Asia. Bisons and koulans adapted to life in completely different natural zones. Reindeer and caribous, muskoxen, elks, Arctic foxes, wolverines, Arctic hares and other species are now widespread in the taiga zone and Arctic regions.

On November 14, a stamp dedicated to the scientific mission of automatic interplanetary station Luna-25 will go into postal circulation in the Space Projects of Russia series
Luna-25 is a part of the Russian lunar program, the first Russian lunar mission on-going at the Lavochkin Association, JSC, for the exploration and practical use of the Moon and near-lunar space by automatic interplanetary stations.
The Luna-25 station has been designed using only Russian equipment and the latest achievements in space instrumentation engineering.
AIS Luna-25 was launched on August 11 of 2023 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome by a Soyuz2.1b launch vehicle with a Fregat upper stage that put the station on a flight trajectory to the Moon. On August 20, during the transition to the landing orbit, the station ceased to exist having collided with the surface of the Moon.

On November 15, a block of stamps dedicated to the 550th Anniversary of the Holy Pskovo-Pechersky Dormition Monastery will go into postal circulation in the Monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church series
The Holy Dormition Pskovo-Pechersky Monastery is one of the largest and best-known male monasteries in Russia with a centuries-old history.
It originated in caves on the bank of the Kamenets brook, discovered by local people in 1392. According to a legend, the caves were inhabited by monks who ran away to the Pskov Land from the south from Crimean Tatar raids.
In 1470, Hieromonk Jonah, a former priest of the St George's Church in Jurjev-Livonian (presently Tartu), settled in a cave. In 1473, a cave church of the Dormition of the Theotocos dug out by Reverend Jonah in a sandstone hill was consecrated here. This year is considered the year of the Monastery foundation. The hill where the Dormition Church and the caves are located is named the Holy Mountain.
The Monastery survived many attacks by Swedish, Lithuanian and Polish conquerors, who took advantage of the internal problems of the Russian state and terrorized its western borders.
The monastery has never been closed during its history. The priest-archimandrite is Arseny Metropolitan of Pskov and Porkhov.

Sambo (an acronym of self-defense without weapons) is an international type of sports and applied martial arts developed in Russia in the 1920s-1930s on the basis of judo and jiu-jitsu wrestling under the leadership of Vasily Oshchepkov, Victor Spiridonov and Anatoly Kharlampiev.
Sambo is divided into two main lines: competitive and combat sambo. While in the first case, the chief task is to demonstrate throwing techniques or pain techniques, the first priority in combat sambo is the fighter's ability to deprive the opponent of a resistance possibility as effectively and promptly as possible. For this reason, the combat application of sambo in 1947-1991 was accessible only for law enforcement agencies.

On November 17, 1923, the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the RSFSR approved the Instruction to the District Supervisor. This regulatory legal document laid the foundation for the formation of the institution of district militia officers in the Russian law enforcement forces. The modern name – a community policeman - appeared in 2011, after the reformation of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation
Today, the Community Policemen Service occupies a central place in the system of internal affairs bodies.
At present, there are more than 48,000 community policemen in the internal affairs agencies of the Russian Federation. They work round the clock with the population in the territories under their jurisdiction, they are the first to come to the aid to people in time of need and are engaged in the prevention of domestic violence, child neglect, alcoholism and drug addiction.

On November 23, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 100th Birth Anniversary of Victor Kurochkin, a writer, will go into postal circulation
Victor Kurochkin (1923-1976) was a writer, a scriptwriter, a playwright and a journalist; a participant in the Great Patriotic War.
After the War, he graduated from the Leningrad Law School, in 1949-1951, worked as a judge in the village of Utorgosh of the Novgorod Region, then as a journalist in the Leningradskaya Pravda and Smena newspapers In 1959, he graduated from the extension department of the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute.
Victor Kurochkin is the author of such books as Short Childhood, Nadenka from Apalyovo, The Nailed-Up House, of stage play Kozyrikha and others. The most famous work of the writer is his story At War as at War, which entered the golden fund of the Russian military prose. The story was published in 1965 and screened in 1968.
The commemorative stamp features a portrait of Victor Kurochkin and a scribbling pad; the main illustration shows an image of an unfolded book with a scene of a tank battle.

The National Helicopter Building Centre Mil and Kamov (JSC NCV Mil and Kamov) is a Russian aviation industry enterprise located in urban village Tomilino, Lyubertsy District of the Moscow Region. It is engaged in the development and experimental operation of helicopters. It was founded in 2019 on the basis of JSC Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and JSC Kamov. The company weaved together two unique engineering schools of the Russian helicopter industry - the Mil School and the Kamov School. It forms part of JSC Russian Helicopters.
Currently, JSC NCV Mil and Kamov incorporates two development bureaus - Mil Design Bureau and Kamov Design Bureau, a trial plant, as well as an experimental and research (bench) complex and a flight test center. The company carries out explorations; it designs, builds and tests prototype helicopters, introduces them into serial production, retrofits, and supports Mi and Ka helicopters in production and operation.

The Kherson Region is a region of the Russian Federation, located in the south-west of the country on the left bank of the lower reaches of the Dnieper River. It is located on the shores of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The temporary administrative capital of the Kherson Region is the city of Genichesk.
The Kherson Region has a substantial potential for the development of agricultural production. It is an important region for growing high-quality food grain of winter wheat, corn, rice, and sunflower. The Region has appreciable areas of irrigated land, which allows the cultivation of vegetable and cucurbits crops and grapes. The territory of the Region hosts the Askania Nova Biosphere Reserve.

On November 29, a stamp dedicated to the Catherine Hall will go into postal circulation in the Grand Kremlin Palace series
The Catherine Hall is one of the six staterooms of the Grand Kremlin Palace. At the time of its creation, it was the throne room for Russian Empresses. It was named after the Order of Saint Catherine instituted by Peter I in 1713.
The parquet floor is inlayed with a stylized image of the Order of St. Catherine in the form of a gilded pattern. The image of the Order framed by artificial diamonds and the inscription For Love and Fatherland is present both on the walls and on the main doors of the room. The total length of the Catherine Hall is about 21 m. The main notable elements of the room are the pilasters decorated with malachite insets and fixed on heavy-duty pillars at the doorways.
The walls and vaults are decorated with water silk of greyish tint framed by tissue that stylizes the Order Ribbon. Besides, gilded stucco molding made by Russian artisans is used as decoration.
The geometric pattern of the parquet of the Catherine Hall of the Kremlin Palace was designed by Academician Feodor Solntsev.
The lighting is provided by gilded ceiling lamps cast in bronze with finest crystal chandeliers.
Presently, the Catherine Hall is used for meetings with heads of foreign states, formal dinner parties and presentation of credentials.

On November 29, four stamps dedicated to outstanding artistic personalities of the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts will go into postal circulation
The year of 2025 will mark the 200th Anniversary of the foundation of the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts. More than one generation of outstanding creative personalities was fostered within the walls of this educational institution; famous painters and sculptors used to give classes here.
In 1896-1917, the director was Nikolay Globa, an Academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts. He carried out an essential reorganization of the Academy, introduced new programs, organized art and industrial workshops, invited talented teachers, including sculptor Nikolay Andreev, the author of many monuments, including those to Nikolay Gogol and Alexander Ostrovsky in Moscow.
Prior to 1901, a professor of the Stroganov Academy was Lev Kekushev, one of the greatest masters of the Art Nouveau style in Moscow. He created about 100 architectural projects, including the Khludov Apartment Building, the Nosov Mansion, Elektrozavodskaya Street, and Iberian Trade Rows, Nikolskaya Street.
In 1955-1967, Zakhar Bykov became the rector of the Stroganov Academy. It was owing to his efforts that the current building was constructed and the Applied Art Faculty was formed.

On November 30, a stamp dedicated to the 350th Birth Anniversary of Alexander Menshikov, a statesman and a military figure, will go into postal circulation
Alexander Menshikov (1673-1729) was a Russian statesman and military figure, a duke (1702), a Prince of the Holy Roman Empire (1705), His Serene Highness the Prince of Izhora (1707).
In his youth days, Alexander Menshikov was taken into service by Franz Lefort. It was in this period that he attracted attention of Peter I who accepted him as a camp boy. He appointed Menshikov to the Preobrazhensky Regiment of the Toy Army, and at the age of 20, he became a bombardier. Gradually he entered the position of the Tsar valet. He accompanied Peter I on the Tsar’s first trip abroad. Along with the sovereign, he practiced all crafts, worked at the Amsterdam shipyard. He also took part in the Azov campaigns (1695-1696) and the Great Embassy (1697-1698).
After the death of Peter I, Menshikov forwarded the enthronement of Catherine I and became the de facto ruler of Russia (1725-1727): the First Senator, the First member of the Supreme Privy Council (1726); under Peter II, he was the Generalissimo of naval and land forces (1727).
On September 8, 1727, he fell from political favor, was deprived of property, ranks and awards. He was under arrest from September 8, 1727, until April 4, 1728, and then was exiled with his family to Siberia.

On November 30, a stamp dedicated to the 50th Anniversary of participation of Russian peacekeepers in UN operations
International law defines UN military observers as officials commissioned to an area of armed conflict to monitor the implementation of truce and ceasefires, and the performance of duties in accordance with the mission's mandate.
November 25, 2023, marks the 50th Anniversary of the day when the first group of Soviet UN military observers, consisting of 36 officers, was forwarded for a UN mission in the Middle East. That was the beginning of our country's active participation in UN peacekeeping operations.
Since that time, more than 4,000 Soviet and Russian peacekeeping officers have taken part in 42 UN peacekeeping operations. Today, our military observers, police and staff officers are drawing duty in 9 out of 12 UN peacekeeping missions.

On November 30, four stamps dedicated to buildings of diplomatic missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation will go into postal circulation
The House of Receptions of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a former Morozov mansion on Spiridonovka Street in Moscow. The building was designed by architect Fyodor Shechtel and artist Mikhail Vrubel was invited to decorate the ceremonial interiors. After nationalization, the building was transferred to the People's Commissariat of Foreign Affairs. Since 1938, it has been the House of Receptions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
The Russian Embassy in Paris is an old mansion built in 1711-1713 upon the project of Robert de Cotte, one of the leading French architects of the Regency era, on the order of Duchesse d'Estrées. In later years, the palace changed owners several times, the last of whom sold it to the Russian government in December of 1863.
The Russian Mission in Vienna, the palace on Reisnerstrasse, which houses the Russian Embassy in Austria, was built in 1872-1873 by Austrian architect Alois von Wurm-Ankreuz. In 1874, the palace came into the possession of the Duke of Nassau, and in 1891, Ambassador Aleksey Lobanov-Rostovsky purchased it for the needs of the Russian diplomatic mission.
