On April 5, a stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Sklifosovsky Clinical and Research Institute for Emergency Medicine will go into postal circulation

The Sklifosovsky Institute is the largest multi-speciality scientific and practical center for emergency and elective care in Russia and the only multi-speciality emergency hospital in Moscow dealing with the problems of emergency surgery, intensive care, concomitant and burning injuries, emergency cardiology and acute poisoning.

The structure of the Institute comprises 30 scientific and 80 clinical departments. About 70 thousand patients receive high-tech medical care in the clinic every year.

The high scientific and practical potential of the staff and up-to-date equipment make it possible to successfully develop new and improve existing diagnostic and treatment methods for emergency conditions, which permits the personnel to treat patients with the most severe and complicated acute surgical diseases and injuries, to consult and transfer patients from other medical institutions to the Institute for treatment.

On April 12, a stamp dedicated to the 250th Birth Anniversary of Yu. Lisyansky, a navigator, an explorer, a participant of the first Russian round-the-world expedition, will go into postal circulation

Yu. Lisyansky (1773–1837) was a navigator, an explorer, and a participant of the first Russian round-the-world expedition.

In 1793-1799, Lisyansky did his military service as a volunteer on the ships of the British Navy. During those years, he sailed extensively to North America and the Canadian coasts, South Africa, India and the West Indies.

Upon his return to Russia, in 1798, he was promoted to the rank of captain-lieutenant and commanded the Avtroil frigate. In November of 1802, he was awarded the Order of St. George, 4th class, for 18 sea campaigns.

In 1803-1806, Ivan Kruzenstern and Yuri Lisyansky on sailing sloops Nadezhda and Neva executed the first circumnavigation in the history of the Russian Fleet. During the three-year expedition, the ships sailed together only 375 days and 720 days on their own. Yuri Lisyansky was the first to describe Hawaii in his book Journey Around the World (in 2 volumes, 1812). During his cruising, he made detailed observations of winds and currents, compiled rich mineral, zoological, ethnographic and botanical collections, described tens of islands and many hundreds of miles of coastlines. For his services, he was promoted to captain second rank and in August of 1806, he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir, 3rd class, money reward and life pension.

On April 12, a postage stamp dedicated to the Cosmonautics Day will go into postal circulation

JSC Marka in association with the Moscow Branch of the Union of Artists of Russia held an Open All-Russian Thematic Competition of drawing a postal stamp and an illustrated stamped envelope themed Happy Cosmonautics Day!

The goals and objectives of the competition are drawing of attention to the Cosmonautics Day; promotion of the peaceful space idea; popularization of the genre of the author's artistic miniature executed both in traditional “manual” techniques and with digital technologies; bringing new authors to the genre of postal miniature.

The postage stamp features the artwork by Competition Winner I. Miroshnichenko: an image of a cosmonaut against the background of outer space.

On April 18, a postal block dedicated to the admission of Crimea, Taman and Kuban to the composition of the Russian Empire in 1783 will go into postal circulation

In 1783, the territories of the Crimean Khanate were integrated into the Russian Empire during the military campaign of Grigory Potemkin after the abdication of the last Crimean Khan Shahin Giray.

On April 19, 1783, Catherine II signed a Manifesto on the accession of Crimea, Taman and Kuban to the Russian Empire.

In 1784, a Taurian Region was instituted under the Prince Potemkin’s administration, which consisted of the Crimean Peninsula, the adjacent Northern Black Sea coastal area and Taman.

The postal block features a fragment of portrait Catherine II as a Legislator in the Temple of the Goddess of Justice by D. Levitsky (State Russian Museum, 1783) and the text of the Manifesto; the postage stamp provides a map of Crimea, Taman and Kuban in the composition of the Russian Empire in 1783.

On April 18, a stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Dynamo sports society will go into postal circulation


On April 18, 1923, the Dynamo Moscow proletarian sports society was established.

Presently, the Dynamo All-Russian Sports and Physical Culture Society unites 82 regional organizations, 15 numbered organizations, which incorporate 17 ministries and agencies, as well as 16 countries that are participants of the Dynamo international movement. The society proceeds to advance and to work actively in different directions: the development of mass and Youth sports, working with orphans and children from low-income families; the improvement of sports training of the personnel of law enforcement agencies and departments; the development of service-applied sports.

On April 20, a stamp dedicated to film Vyzov (The Challenge) will go into postal circulation in the Modern Russian Cinematography series

The Challenge is the first Russian feature film produced in space. It is a joint project of Channel One, Joint Stock Company Glavkosmos, State Corporation Roskosmos, and the Yellow, Black and White studio of the START online cinema, with the support of the Cinema Fund. The film is scheduled for release on April 20, 2023.

Actress Yulia Peresild and film director Klim Shipenko spent 12 days on the ISS. About 30 hours of footage were filmed. In June of 2022, the group performed on-the-ground filming on the territory of the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, the Voronovo health resort, and in the film studio with a specially built copy of the Mission Control Center of the Roscosmos State Corporation.

The postage stamp is based on a poster designed for the release of the The Challenge film.

On April 20, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Mossovet State Academic Theater will go into postal circulation

The Mossovet State Academic Theater is a drama theater in Moscow, honored with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1949) and the Order of Lenin (1973). It was founded in 1923 by writer and stage director Sergei Prokofiev as a theater for workers of the Moscow Provincial Council of Trade Unions.

Currently, the Main Stage (894 seats) and the Under the Roof Stage (120 seats) offer performances based on play scripts by classic Russian and world playwrights, as well as young writers, staged by directors of different generations and creative positions. The repertoire of the Theater includes 32 productions, representing a wide range of genres and aesthetic trends that are of interest to audiences of all ages.

The postage stamp and the main illustration feature a building of the Mossovet State Academic Theater.

On April 21, an overprinted postage stamp dedicated to National Research Center Kurchatov Institute will go into postal circulation


The Kurchatov Institute is the largest Russian scientific research institute.

The Kurchatov Institute played a key role in promotion of the country's safety and development of the most important strategic directions of Russian Soviet science and industry. The Institute was founded in Moscow in 1943 as Laboratory No. 2 of the USSR Academy of Sciences with the view of tackling the problem of development of atomic weapons. In 1960, the Institute was named after its founder Igor Kurchatov, and in 1991, it received the status of the Russian Research Center.

The postage stamp provides an image of the logo designed for the 75th Anniversary of National Research Center Kurchatov Institute as well as a surcharge of 48 rubles and an overprint of the 80th Anniversary of the Institute.

On April 27, a stamp dedicated to the 200th Birth Anniversary of playwright Alexander Ostrovsky will go into postal circulation

Alexander Ostrovsky (1823-1886) was a playwright whose creative work was a most significant stage in the development of the Russian national theater; he was a Corresponding Member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences.

The playwright wrote about 50 plays, among them A Profitable Position (1856), The Storm (1859), Mad Money (1869), The Forest (1870), The Snow Maiden (1873), Without a Dowry (1878), and many others. The name of Ostrovsky is related to a whole epoch in the development of Russian theater. He translated Cervantes, Shakespeare, Terence, and Goldoni.

His dramaturgy played a decisive role in the establishment of an original and vivid repertoire on the Russian stage and contributed to the formation of a national theatrical school.

In 1865, Ostrovsky founded an artistic circle in Moscow and became one of its leaders. In 1870, he initiated the establishment of the Society of Russian Dramatic Writers, which he permanently chaired from 1874 until the end of his life.

The postage stamp features a portrait of Alexander Ostrovsky; the margins of the sheet of stamp provide quotations from the writer's works.

On April 28, a stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Central Army Sports Club (CSKA) will go into postal circulation

April 29 of 1923 is considered the official birthday of the Central Army Sports Club. On that day, the first sports festival was held: a football match between military athletes for the championship of the capital.

The CSKA incorporates six regional branches in St. Petersburg, Samara, Sevastopol, Smolensk, Rostov-on-Don and Khabarovsk, as well as 19 sports centers and 37 children's sports schools and departments. In total, more than 10,000 athletes do sport in the Army Club under the guidance of 549 coach-instructors.

Today, CSKA fosters 65 sports (42 Olympic, 18 non-Olympic and 5 military-applied disciplines) and 29 sports that enter into the competition program of the International Council of Military Sports, providing training at 171 sports facilities virtually all over Russia - from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, and from Severomorsk to Sevastopol.
