On January 12, a postage stamp dedicated to figure skating will go into postal circulation in the Sports series

Figure skating is a skating sport that refers to complex coordination sports. The basic idea consists in an athlete or a pair of athletes moving on skates on the ice with changes in the direction of skating and performing additional elements (pirouettes, jumps, combinations of steps, hand spots, etc.) to music.

The postage stamp features an image of a figure skater in ladies singles skating.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Ryazan, and Sevastopol, and a maxi-card.

Football is a team sport in which the purpose is to score a ball into the opposing team's goalposts with feet or other body parts (except for hands) more times than the opposing team will do into yours. Currently, it is the most popular and participation sport in the world.

The postage stamp features an image of a football player with a ball against the background of the markings on the football field.

On January 24, a postage stamp dedicated to the 250th Anniversary of the Saint-Petersburg Mining University will go into postal circulation

The Mining University is the first higher technical education institution in Russia founded by Empress Catherine II in 1773. The original name of the University was the Mining School.

The Mining University conducts intensive studies on the basic problems of the development of the raw material base of the country, in the sphere of rational nature management, development of progressive energy-saving mining technologies and processing of minerals, and reduction of an anthropogenic impact on ecosystems.

The University houses the Mining Museum, which stores unique minerals, ore, geologic materials, collections of models and prototype units on the history of mining and mining equipment, products of stone-cutting and jewelry art. The funds of the museum contain 240 thousand exhibits.

The postage stamp provides an image of the building of the Saint-Petersburg Mining University.

On January 24, a postal block dedicated to the 175th Birth Anniversary of painter Vasily Surikov will go into postal circulation

Vasily Surikov (1848-1916) was a Russian painter, academician, full member of the Imperial Academy of Arts.

The main features of Surikov's artworks are the subtle embodiment of the spirit of the age, the careful outworking of details, the dynamic and precisely thought-out plot, and the enhanced attention to colors and tones. The paintings feature strong characters, human freedom, independence of personalities, and rebellious strength.

The artist’s famous works are the Morning of Strelets’ Execution (1881), Boyarynya Morozova (1887), the Conquest of the Snow Town (1891), the Crimean Landscape (1907) and the Yenisei by Krasnoyarsk (1909).

The postage stamp features a fragment of the Surikov's painting Morning of Strelets’ Execution (1881, Tretyakov Gallery); the margins of the postal block provide a portrait of Surikov by I. Kramskoi (1887, the Surikov Krasnoyarsk Art Museum) and the interior of the Surikov Estate Museum in Krasnoyarsk.

On January 25, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the liberation of Voronezh from Nazi invaders will go into postal circulation in the On the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 series

In the course of the Great Patriotic War, in the summer of 1942, aerial bombardment of Voronezh became almost unceasing. In that context, the Supreme Command Headquarters established a separate Voronezh Front on July 7 of 1942, and Nikolai Vatutin was appointed its Commander. The Headquarters of the Front was located in the front-line settlement of Anna.

The decisive battle for Voronezh was carried on as part of the Voronezh-Kastornoye Offensive Operation. The military activities began in the morning of January 24, 1943. The battle for Voronezh lasted 8 days from January 24 to February 2 of 1943. On January 25 of 1943, the right-bank part of the city was completely cleared from the occupying army.

Nowadays, Voronezh rightfully bears the distinguished title of the City of Military Glory.

The commemorative stamp features the celebration emblem of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945; the main illustration provides a photo of a soldier mounting the Liberation Red Banner and a map of the Voronezh-Kastornoye Offensive Operation.

State awards of the Russian Federation are the highest form of encouraging nationals for transcendental merits to the Homeland defense, nation-building, economy, science, culture, Arts, upbringing, education, protection of citizens’ health, life and rights, charity activities and other achievements for the state.

The state awards are instituted and granted by the President of the Russian Federation.

The medal of the Parental Glory Order was instituted on September 7, 2010.

The medal of the Parental Glory Order is awarded to parents (or adoptive parents) who are raising, or have raised four or more children as citizens of the Russian Federation in accordance with the family law requirements.

Medal For Merit in Space Exploration was instituted on September 7, 2010.

Medal For Merit in Space Exploration is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign nationals for merits in research, development and use of outer space, for a substantial contribution to the development of rocket and space technology and industry, for the implementation of international programs, as well as for other achievements in the field of space activities.

Medal For Merit in the Development of Nuclear Energy was instituted on March 16, 2015.

Medal For Merit in the Development of Nuclear Energy is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign nationals for achievements in the field of research, development, and use of nuclear energy, for a major contribution in nuclear and radiation safety and security, personnel training, scientific and design activities, as well as for other achievements in the field of the development of nuclear energy.

On January 31, a postcard with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 75th Birth Anniversary of Valery Kharlamov, a hockey player, an Honored Master of Sports of the USSR will go into postal circulation

Valery Kharlamov (1948-1981) was a Soviet ice hockey player, a forward of the CSKA team (1967-1981) and the USSR national team (1969-1980), a Merited Master of Sports of the USSR (1969). He was a two-time Olympic champion (1972, 1976) and eight-time World champion. Kharlamov was the Top Hockey Player of the USSR (1972, 1973) and one of the leading hockey players of the USSR in the 1970s, recognized both in this country and abroad.

The commemorative stamp provides a portrait of Valery Kharlamov; the main illustration features a fragment of the USSR-Canada Super Series match of 1972 in Moscow.
