Emissions of state valuable postal matter in March

On March 3, four stamps dedicated to cats will go into postal circulation in the Fauna of Russia series

Cats are among the most popular pets. Currently, there are about 200 breeds in the world: from long-haired (Persian) to hairless (Sphynxes), recognized and registered by various felinological organizations.

The most popular breeds in Russia are the Russian Blue Cat, the Siberian Cat, the Kurilian and Karelian Bobtails, the Uralian Rex, the Neva Masquerade Cat and the Don Sphynx.

The postal stamps present images of the following breeds: Neva Masquerade, Kurilian Bobtail, Ural Rex and Don Sphynx.

In addition to the emission of the postage stamps, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow and St. Petersburg. Also issued are four maximum cards and an illustrated envelope containing the postal stamps, a label and сovers with cancellation for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Rostov-on-Don, Ekaterinburg and Novosibirsk.

On March 5, a stamp dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of Friedrich Engels will go into postal circulation

Friedrich Engels (1820–1895) was a German political figure, philosopher, historian, business person, one of the founders of Marxism and scientific communism, a friend and associate of Karl Marx as well as a co-author and editor of his writings.

F. Engels is one of the founders of materialistic understanding of history. In cooperation with K. Marx, he undertook a dialectical materialistic revision of the bourgeois political economy.

As a member of the international secret organization Union of the Just, F. Engels in cooperation with K. Marx, wrote the Manifesto of the Communist Party (1848), which in 2013 was included in the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage.

The stamp provides an image of a sculptural portrait of Friedrich Engels.

On March 10, a stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of Ivan Kozhedub (1920–1991), fighter pilot, Triple Hero of the Soviet Union, will go into postal circulation

Ivan Kozhedub (1920-1991) was a Soviet military commander, Air Marshal (1985), flying ace, triple Hero of the Soviet Union. In the autumn of 1940, he graduated from the Chuguev military aviation school. Since November of 1942, he served in the 240th fighter aviation regiment of 302nd fighter aviation division. By the end of the Great Patriotic War, the Guards Major Ivan Kozhedub made 330 combat missions, shot down 62 enemy planes in 120 air battles.

In 1956, he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff and continued to serve in the Air Force.

The stamp provides a portrait of Ivan Kozhedub in his flight uniform and the La-7 Fighter Aircraft, which was his fighting plane.

On March 12, a stamp dedicated to Zhorez Alferov, scientist, will go into postal circulation in the Nobel Prize Winners series

Zhorez Ivanovich Alferov (1930–2019) is a Soviet and Russian physicist and political figure, a Nobel Prize Winner for physics. He is the author of more than 500 scientific papers, 4 monographs included, and more than 50 inventions.

In 2000, Zhorez Alferov in collaboration with Herbert Kroemer were awarded the Nobel Prize for physics for the fundamental works that laid the foundation of modern information technologies via development of semiconductor heterostructures applicable in microwave and optical electronics.

The stamp provides a Zh. Alferov’s portrait against a semiconductor heterojunction laser. Stamp sheet margins show the scientist’s quotation and sketches.

On March 16, a stamp dedicated to the 175th Anniversary of inventor Pavel Golubitsky will go into postal circulation

Pavel Golubitsky (1845–1911) is an outstanding Russian inventor in the field of telephony.

P. Golubitsky’s inventions are as follows: a dipole telephone, a multipolar telephone; a coal powder microphone, a microphone with a comb-like arrangement of coal; a power supply system of subscribers’ microphones with a common battery situated in the central station, which provided the means of building large urban telephone networks; and a telephone switch to interconnect pair-wise several telephone lines. P. Golubitsky was a pioneer of telephone service implementation on railway transport.

The stamp provides a P. Golubitsky’s portrait and a phone set of his invention.

On March 17, a stamp dedicated to the 250th Anniversary of unification of Ingush Republic with Russia will go into postal circulation

The Republic of Ingushetia is the youngest republic in the composition of the Russian Federation established on June 4, 1992; it is located on northern slopes of the foreland of the Great Caucasian ridge, in its central part. The Republic comprises 4 Regions and 5 cities of republican subordination. The capital is the city of Magas.

The historical event — unification of Ingushetia with Russia — took place on March 17−19, 1770, near the settlement of Angusht (Tarskoye) of the Prigorodnii District on the flat-bottom terrain named Barta bose (Consent Slope). On July 12, 1770, the Agreement for voluntary inclusion of Ingushetia in the composition of Russia was signed by Ingush patriarchs and approved by the Board for Foreign Affairs of Russia. In that manner, Ingushetia made a part of the Russian Empire.

The stamp provides an image of the national emblem of the Republic of Ingushetia; the decoration makes use of the national ornament.

On March 23, a postcard with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of Grigory Butakov, combat leader and naval commander, will go into postal circulation in the History of the Armed Forces of Russia series

Grigorii Butakov (1820-1882) was a Russian naval figure, naval commander, Adjutant General, Admiral, the father of the steamship armored fleet tactics, and a Black Sea researcher.

During the Crimean War in 1853, while commanding the Vladimir steam frigate he conquered the Turkish Pervaz-Bahri steamship. In 1855, Butakov was appointed the Chief of Staff in Nikolayev, the Head of the Marine Unit in Nikolayev in 1856 and the Military Governor of Nikolayev and Sevastopol. From 1860 until nearly the end of his service, he was in the Baltic Fleet.

G. Butakov wrote a number of articles in the Naval Collection, Code of Naval Military Signals and the Book of Evolutionary Signals. His chief work, the New Foundations of Steamship Tactics was awarded the Demidov Prize by the Academy of Sciences.

The commemorative stamp provides images of Russian warriors of different times; the central picture presents G. Butakov’s portrait and steam frigate Vladimir.

On March 27, two stamps dedicated to Sergei Basurmanov and Sergei Firsov will go into postal circulation in the Heroes of the Russian Federation series

Sergei Basurmanov (1968–1999) was a vice Chief of Staff of an operational designation subdivision of internal troops of the RF Interior Ministry, major. Hero of the Russian Federation.

By Presidential Decree of September 25, 1999, for the courage and heroism in the course of counterterrorist operations in the North Caucasus, Major Sergei Basurmanov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously).

Sergei Firsov (1971–1995) was a vice Chief of Staff of a reconnaissance squadron of the 165th naval infantry regiment of the Russian Navy, first lieutenant. Hero of the Russian Federation.

By Presidential Decree of May 3, 1995, for the courage and heroism when performing a special assignment, First Lieutenant Sergei Firsov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously).

The stamps provide portraits of the Heroes of the Russian Federation and the Gold Star medal.

On March 30, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to Alexei Alelyukhin, fighter pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union will go into postal circulation in the On 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 series

Alexei V. Alelyukhin (1920–1990) was a Soviet fighter pilot, Major General of Air Forces (1971), twice Hero of the Soviet Union (1943).

He graduated from the Chkalov Military Aviation School (1939).

During the Great Patriotic War, he worked his way up from a common pilot to the Deputy Commander of a fighter aviation regiment. During the War, he made 601 air missions, participated in 258 air battles, destroyed 40 enemy planes personally and 17 as a member of a group.

After the war, he graduated from the M. Frunze Military Academy (1948) and the K. Voroshilov Higher Military Academy (1953; presently, the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation). He continued to serve in the Air Force.

The envelope with a commemorative stamp provides an image of the symbol of celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945; the central image offers a portrait of Alexei Alelyukhin against the La-7 Fighter Aircraft and two Gold Star medals.

On March 30, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the Immortal Regiment march will go into postal circulation in the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 series

The Immortal Regiment is an international social civic-and-patriotic movement to commemorate the Great Patriotic War generation.

The Immortal Regiment history started in 2007 in Tyumen. The event was named Parade of Winners. Two years later such parades were held in more than 20 regions. The movement in its current form was initiated and received the name of Immortal Regiment in Tomsk in 2012.

In 2013, the Immortal Regiment march was for the first time carried out in Moscow on the Poklonnaya Gora and in 2015, it was held on the Red Square.

The task of the Immortal Regiment movement is to memorize the feat of the Great Patriotic War soldiers, to reflect on the heroic experience of ancestors, to reintegrate the continuity of generations, and recover the feeling of belonging of a person and his/her family to the history of the Homeland.

The envelope with a commemorative stamp provides an image of the symbol of celebration of the 75 anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945; the main image is a logo of patriotic organization Immortal Regiment — Moscow, a St.George's Ribbon and a festive march of the movement.
