Emissions of state valuable postal matter in January

On January 15, upon program Europe, a stamp dedicated to ancient postal routes will be put into postal circulation

The Kholmogory postroad was known as early as in the end of the 15th century, but only a section of it to Vologda was in use. The first offers to establish a postal service in Arkhangelsk were made to Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich in the middle of the 17th century. At that time, the postroad followed nearly the same path as the present-day Moscow Arkhangelsk highway: through the trading quarter of the Trinity Monastery, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov the Great, Yaroslavl, Danilov, Vologda, Velsk, Shenkursk, and Kholmogory. The oldest Russian regular postal service between Arkhangelsk and Moscow was launched under the rule of Peter the Great in 1693.

The postal stamp shows an ancient post route: the Kholmogory postroad (Arkhangelsk — Vologda — Yaroslavl — Moscow) and the Europe logotype.
In addition to the emission of the postal stamp, JSC Marka will produce a First Day Cover and special cancels for Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Vologda, Yaroslavl and Arkhangelsk.

On January 17, four postage stamps devoted to berries will go into postal circulation in the frame of the Flora of Russia series.

The vegetal world of Russia is one of the most important components of Nature made of a set of different vegetation communities, which grow in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Berries are kinds of fruit with a thin membrane, juicy pulp, usually with several solid seeds inside.

The stamps provide images of berries of red raspberry, black currant, blue-berried honeysuckle and pineapple strawberry.

In addition to the emission of the postage stamps, the JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ryazan, Belgorod and Krasnodar as well as an illustrated envelope and four maximum cards will be published.

21 января в обращение выйдет почтовый блок, посвящённый 500-летию Тульского кремля

Тульский кремль — выдающийся памятник русского оборонного зодчества XVI века. Построен на важнейшем стратегическом направлении, в течение нескольких столетий оборонял южные рубежи Русского государства от крымско-татарских набегов, являлся главным звеном знаменитой Большой засечной черты. Строительство кремля началось в 1507 году, продолжалось тринадцать лет и завершилось в 1520 году.

Сегодня Тульский кремль — один из самых посещаемых музеев страны. Ежегодно в него приезжают тысячи российских и зарубежных гостей.

На почтовом блоке изображены объекты Тульского кремля: музей «Тульские самовары», Успенский собор, башня Одоевских ворот, Тульский государственный музей оружия (ранее Богоявленский собор).

Дополнительно к выпуску почтового блока АО «Марка» будут изданы конверты первого дня и изготовлены штемпеля специального гашения для Москвы и Тулы, а также издана художественная обложка.

On January 23, a postal block dedicated to the Ruskeala Mountain Park timed to the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Karelia will go into postal circulation

The Ruskeala mountain park is a tourism complex located in the Sortavala region of Karelia on the bank of the Tokhmayoki River. A basis of the complex is a cultural heritage object, a monument of history — a former marble quarry filled with ground waters. The quarry is 460 m long and up to 100 m wide. The distance from the topmost point of the quarry slope to its bottom makes more than 50 meters. The water transparency is 15–18 m.

The postal block provides images of the Ruskeala mountain park panorama and the logo of the Republic of Karelia Centenary celebration.

In addition to the emission of the postal block, the JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Petrozavodsk and Ruskeala of the Republic of Karelia as well as an illustrated envelope and a maximum card will be published.

On January 28, a postal block dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of the Discovery of the Antarctic Continent and navigators Fabian Bellingshausen and Mikail Lazarev will go into postal circulation within the framework of a cooperative issue of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Estonia

The honor of the Antarctic Continent discovery belongs to the Russian Antarctic expedition of 1819−1821 on the Vostok and Mirnyi sloops commanded by Faddei Bellingshausen (1778−1852) and Mikhail Lazarev (1788−1851). On July 16, 1819, the expedition went to sea. The Antarctic coast was actually discovered on January 28, 1820.

The results of the round-the-world expedition of Bellingshausen and Lazarev were considered among the most considerable events in the history of the global geographical explorations.
The stamps of the postal block provide the portraits of F. Bellingshausen and M. Lazarev; the margins of the block show a group of sailors against the Antarctic scenery.

In addition to the emission of the postal block, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Penza, Vladimir and Sevastopol, and publish an illustrated envelope.

On January 30, a stamp dedicated to the Vistula-Oder Offensive Operation will be put into postal circulation in the Path to Victory series

The Vistula-Oder strategic Offensive Operation (January 12 – February 3, 1945) was a Red Army’s offensive that finished liberation of Poland and marked the beginning of the liberation mission of Soviet troops on the territory of Germany. The operation was conducted by efforts of the 1st Byelorussian and 1st Ukrainian Fronts.

The postal stamp provides an image of a bas-relief with a group of Soviet soldiers during the Vistula-Oder operation.

In addition to the emission of the postal stamp, JSC Marka will produce a First Day Cover and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novgorod the Great.

On January 31, a block dedicated to artist Arkady Plastov (1893–1972) will go into postal circulation

Arkady A. Plastov (1893-1972) was an artist, Academician of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1947), people’s artist of the USSR (1962).

Plastov's artworks account for nearly 10,000 paintings, which belong to the golden collection of Russian culture. The most famous paintings are Bathing of Horses (1938), Haymaking (1945), Spring. In a Bath House (1954), Grandson is drawing (1959), Midday (1961), Mother (1964).

The postal block provides a Self-portrait at Sunset (1969–1971) against the painter’s studio and an image of the logotype of the Russian Academy of Arts, the stamp presents a fragment of the Midday (1961) painting (1961, State Russian Museum).

In addition to the emission of the postal block, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ulyanovsk as well as illustrated envelopes for the postal block with labels and the second emission type: an imperforated postal block made on canvas-type design paper.
