On November 22, a block of two stamps dedicated to such attractions of St.-Petersburg as the Lakhta Center multifunctional complex and the Gazprom Arena stadium will go into postal circulation



St.-Petersburg is one of the loveliest metropolitans in the world and the second largest city of Russia.

The Lakhta Center is a state-of-the-art social and business complex with the Gazprom state concern headquarters being its key facility. It is located in Lakhta, a historic area of the Primorskii district of St.-Petersburg. The 462-m high complex has become the highest skyscraper in Europe. Its total floor area is 400,000 sq.m. Approximately one third of the floor area is occupied by conceptual public spaces: a hypethral amphitheater, a pedestrian quay, a vista point, a convertible concert hall, a children’s research and educational center with planetarium, panorama restaurants and galleries.

The Gazprom Arena stadium located on Krestovsky Island is one of the largest football stadiums in the world. According to the architect idea, its outward appearance resembles a spacecraft that has landed on the shore of the Gulf of Finland. The seven-story building is 56.6 m high. It is the only one building in Russia equipped with a retractable roof and a sliding field. The capacity of the stadium is 68,000 seats.

The stamps of the postage block provide images of modern attractions of St.-Petersburg: the Lakhta Center social and business complex and the Gazprom Arena stadium with the municipal arms of St.-Petersburg on the margins.

In addition to the emission of the postage block, the JSC Marka will produce a First Day Cover and special cancels for Moscow and St.-Petersburg and publish an illustrated envelope.
