On June 27 , a stamp devoted to the International Day of Parliamentarism will be released into circulation



On June 30, 2018, International Parliamentarism Day was celebrated for the first time . This day is intended to emphasize the importance of the parliamentary system and the role of parliaments in improving the lives of people around the world.

The holiday was established by the UN at the initiative of Russia. The corresponding resolution was approved by 22 May 2018 at the 72 th session of the General Assembly ex GS H in New York. International Day of Parliamentarism will be celebrated annually starting June 30, 2018.

The date is set in honor of the first meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held on June 30, 1889.

Parliaments reflect the opinion of the people, pass laws, allocate funds to enforce laws, policies, and make appropriate demands to governments. The IPU works closely with parliamentarians from all countries to strengthen their capacity in this area.

The postage stamp shows the logo of the Inter-Parliamentary Union against the background of the Russian tricolor .

In addition to the issue of a postage stamp of JSC “Marka”, envelopes of the first day will be issued and a first day stamp will be made for Moscow.
