Oleg Nikolaevich Dolgov (1976–1996) - a fighter of the special-purpose squad "Rus" of the MVD, a participant in the Chechen campaign, a Hero of the Russian Federation.
Born on August 21, 1976 in the village of Shamkin, Republic of Chuvashia. After serving in the army, he decided to continue his military business and entered the special-purpose detachment "Rus".
In January 1996, when conducting a special operation to free hostages in the village of Pervomaisk Republic of Dagestan, Oleg Dolgov was part of one of the assault groups. Dolgov was one of the first entrenched on the outskirts of the village, covering the rest of the fighters with fire.
During the battle, he destroyed, throwing grenades, one of the enemy’s firing positions, freed several hostages. Having received an order to support the nearby assault group with ammunition left without cartridges, Dolgov and a friend carried a box with cartridges for them. Both were slightly injured by enemy fire. Dolgov gave his friend a safe place so that he could do the dressing, but he got up to look around. At the same time received a fatal injury.
By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of July 8, 1996, for “courage and heroism shown in the liquidation of illegal armed formations in the North Caucasus military region,” Oleg Dolgov was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
The postage stamp depicts a portrait of O.N. Dolgov and the Gold Star Medal.
