February 2, a postage stamp dedicated to the Battle of Stalingrad is to be put into circulation in the Way to the Victory series

The Battle of Stalingrad was a major battle of the Great Patriotic War; it lasted from 17 July 1942 to 2 February 1943. The Soviet victory over the Germans at Stalingrad was the turning point in World War II: the Red Army surrounded and crashed the enemy significant military forces and seized the strategic initiative. The victory was a result of invincible stamina, courage and mass heroism of the Soviet soldiers.

The postage stamp depicts a bas-relief featuring a group of Soviet soldiers at the Battle of Stalingrad.

In addition to the postage stamp release, a FDC and special cancellation postmark for Moscow and Volgograd are to be produced.

February 2, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the Stalingrad defender K.A. Kostyuchenko, a destruction battalion commander, is to be put into circulation in the “75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945” series

Stalingrad was defended in 1942-1943 mainly by NKVD forces. The 10th NKVD Rifle Division was the largest of them and included five rifle regiments. Kuzma Antonovich Kostyuchenko, the chief of the 8th Police Station, was assigned commander of the 1st Destruction Battalion of volunteers who held back the enemy superior forces trying to capture the Tractor Works during several days till the arrival of the Red Army. For his courage, the police major Kuzma Kostyuchenko was awarded the Order of the Red Banner after that battle.

The envelope with a commemorative stamp features Kuzma Kostyuchenko’s portrait against the ruins of Stalingrad and the emblem of the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.

February 15, an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of the fighter pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Klubov is to be put into circulation in the “75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945” series

Alexander Fyodorovich Klubov (1918−1944) was a fighter pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union. Alexander Klubov flew 457 combat sorties during the Great Patriotic War and took down 31 enemy planes personally and 19 in a fighter group.

The envelope with a commemorative stamp features Alexander Klubov’s portrait against an aerial fight and the emblem of the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.

In addition to the envelope with a commemorative stamp, joint-stock company Marka is to produce a special cancellation postmark for Vologda.

February 20, two postage stamps dedicated to the lieutenant colonel Anatoly Lebed and warrant officer Alexander Krasikov to be put into circulation in the “Heroes of the Russian Federation” series

Anatoly Vyacheslavovich Lebed (1963–2012) was a guards lieutenant colonel of the 45th separate reconnaissance special task regiment of landing forces named after Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky, Hero of the Russian Federation. For his courage and heroism in the performance of military duty in the north Caucasus Anatoly Lebed was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian federation by the RF President’s decree of 6 April 2005.

Alexander Vladimirovich Krasikov (1958−2005) was a warrant officer at the Federal Security Service, a posthumous Hero of the Russian Federation by the RF President’s decree of 4 November 2005.

The postage stamps depict the portraits of the Heroes of the Russian Federation and the Gold Star medal.

In addition to the postage stamp release, JSC Marka is to produce FDCs and special cancellation postmarks for Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

February 21, a postage stamp dedicated to bridges is to be put into circulation as part of the EUROPA Stamp Issue Programme

The postage stamp features the Floating Bridge at Zaryadye Park.

Zaryadye Park opened on Moscow City Day on 9 September 2017. One of the Park’s attractions is the Floating Bridge over the Moskva River. The bridge is 244 meters long, its weight is 3 700 tons. The Floating Bridge is a thin air structure in the form of the letter “V” with a large outward extension of the console 15 meters above the water. The 70-meter console without a single support is an outdoor observation deck with a high glass barrier. The bridge rests upon the embankment where you can descend by transparent elevator. The bearing structure of the bridge is made of concrete, and the decorative elements are made of metal. At the same time the deck of the Floating Bridge is wooden for comfortable walks of Muscovites.

Tests have been carried out for strength to find out the bridge withstands a load of 240 tons. This means that 3-4 thousand people can simultaneously be on the observation deck.

The postage stamp features the Floating Bridge over the Moskva River against the background of the Kremlin and the EUROPA Stamp Issue Programme logo.

February 26 an envelope with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of the fighter pilot Nikolai Gulayev is to be put into circulation февраля in the “75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945” series

Nikolai Dmitriyevich Gulayev (1918−1985) was a fighter pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, aviation colonel general. During the Great Patriotic War he distinguished himself in combats of the Battle of Kursk near Belgorod. He flew over 200 combat sorties during the war and personally shot down 55 enemy warplanes at 69 aerial fights.

The envelope with a commemorative stamp features Nikolay Gulayev’s portrait, two Gold Star medals and the emblem of the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.

February 28, a postage stamp dedicated to the Great Arctic State Nature Reserve to be put into circulation in a joint issue between the RCC Communications Administrations

The Great Arctic State Nature Reserve is the largest reserve in Russia and Eurasia and the third largest in the world. It has an area of 41,692 square kilometers, including 9,810 square kilometers of sea area. The reserve is located on the islands and shores of the Arctic Ocean. It is surrounded by the Kara and Laptev Seas. 100 bird species can be found throughout the reserve. There are 24 mammal species and 25 fish species inhabiting the territory.

The postage stamp features a snowy owl against the typical landscape of the Great Arctic State Nature Reserve.

In addition to the postage stamp, JSC Marka is to produce FDCs and a first day postmark for Moscow as well as a souvenir set with a stamp, poster stamps and a FDC inside.
