January 25, a postcard with a commemorative stamp dedicated to Sochi was put into circulation in the “2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia™ Host Cities” series


The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ is the 21st FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018. This will be the first World Cup held in Russia and Eastern Europe.

11 Russian cities will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and Ekaterinburg.

Sochi is a resort city located at the north-east coast of the Black Sea in Krasnodar Region stretching for 148 km. It is Russia’s largest resort city, major transport hub, big economic and cultural centre. Sochi hosted the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014.

The postcard depicts the tournament Official Emblem and footballers at play on the stamp; Fisht Olympic Stadium, Iceberg Skating Palace and a cityscape collage are in the main image.

In addition to the postcard, JSC “Marka” has released a special cancellation postmark for Sochi.
