October 26, an envelope with a commemorative stamp to be issued into circulation in the series “The 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945” dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of USSR Marshal Nikolai Ogarkov


Nikolai Vasilyevich Ogarkov (1917-1994) was a Soviet state and military personality, Marshal and Hero of the Soviet Union Mar. He was born on 17 (30) October 1917 in the village of Molokovo, Tver Governorate. After school he worked as a bookkeeper and secretary of the local trade union council. He joined the Red Army in 1938, graduated from the V.V. Kuybyshev Military Engineering Academy of in 1941 and from the USSR General Staff Military Academy in 1959.

During the Great Patriotic War he fought at the West, Karelian and 3rd Ukrainian fronts. In 1977 he was promoted to Marshal of the Soviet Union and was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union for his great contribution in the development and improvement of the USSR armed forces.

The envelope depicts the emblem of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945 on the commemorative stamp; the main image is a portrait of Nikolai Ogarkov against the building of the USSR Armed Forces General Staff.

In addition, Marka joint-stock company is to make a special cancellation postmark for Moscow.
