October 6, a postage stamp dedicated to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was put into circulation



The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is a federal state body exercising powers in criminal procedure and other authority in accordance with legislation. The first designated investigative bodies in Russia – major investigating offices – were set up by Peter the Great in 1713, thus non-departmental preliminary investigation concept was first formulated.

At present the Investigative Committee’s objectives are preliminary verification of messages on crime; criminalist support to crime investigation, forensic activities; procedural control and supervision of investigative bodies, and other functions under Russian law.

The postage stamp depicts the logo and building of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

In addition to the postage stamp, JSC “Marka” has issued a FDC (first day cover) and produced a special cancellation postmark for Moscow.
