August 2, an artistic stamped envelope dedicated to the Russian Red Cross Society is issued

The Federal Communications Agency and JSC “Marka” have issued an artistic stamped envelope to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Russian Red Cross Society, a volunteer-led, humanitarian organization. With a print-run of one million copies, the envelope will be distributed in all the post offices of our country, and anyone may use it to send their mails within all of Russia.

“For many years, the Federal Communications Agency and Join-Stock Company “Marka” have manufactured various philatelic products dedicated to Russian state and public organizations. I am sure this envelope will become a philatelic rarity among collectors of the whole world and will inform a wide audience about the history and activities of the Russian Red Cross Society”, said Rossvyaz Head Mr. Oleg Dukhovnitskiy.

Raisa Lukutsova, the Russian Red Cross Society Chairman, commented on the event as follows: “It is a very constructive and socially responsible project aimed at representing the informational and publicity program of our organization in a year of the Russian Red Cross Society’s 150th anniversary. Once more, we remind the current generation the history of the RCC is a history of serving people based on principles of humanism and patriotism. I am positive this initiative is up-to-the-minute and significant for all of us.”

The envelope’s design makes a retrospective journey into the history of the organization through postage stamps. This theme was well popular in Soviet philately, and many stamps dedicated to the Russian Red Cross Society were issued, which have been depicted on the envelope.
