June 7, an envelope with an original stamp dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Konstantin Balmont to be issued


Konstantin Dmitriyevich Balmont (1867–1942) was a Russian poet and novelist, a literature critic, and translator. He was one of the major figures of the Silver Age of Russian Poetry. The writer authored 35 poem collections, 20 books of prose, and a large number of translations from various languages (William Blake, Edgar Allan Poe, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Oscar Wilde, Gerhart Hauptmann, Charles Baudelaire, Hermann Sudermann, etc).

The envelope with an original stamp bears several images. The original stamp features a portrait of Konstantin Balmont by Valentin Serov. The main image depicts book covers and a line from a verse: “I came to this world to see the Sun…”, as well as the poets signature facsimile.

Additionally, JSC “Marka” will manufacture special cancellation postmarks for Shuya, Ivanovo Oblast.
