April 26, a souvenir sheet dedicated to the 775th anniversary of the Battle on the Ice to be issued

 

The Battle on the Ice was fought between the Russian Army led by prince Alexander Nevsky and the crusaders of the Livonian branch of the Teutonic Knights on April 5, 1242 at Lake Peipus.

The souvenir sheet features a painting The Battle on the Ice by Valentin Serov (1942) from the Penza Oblast Painting Gallery named after Konstantin Savitsky.

Additionally, JSC “Marka” will manufacture an illustrated cover with the souvenir sheet and first day covers with cancellation (Moscow and Pskov) inside.
