March 15, a postage stamp featuring St Michael’s Castle to be issued as part of the EUROPA Stamp Issue program



St Michael’s Castle is a former royal residence in the center of Saint Petersburg, and a major architectural landmark of 18–19 centuries. It was built as a water castle for Emperor Paul I by architects Vincenzo Brenna and Vasily Bazhenov in 1797–1801.

The postage stamp features St Michael's Castle and the EUROPA logo.

Additionally, JSC “Marka” will manufacture an illustrated cover with the postage stamp and first day cover with cancellation (Moscow) inside and a maximum card, as well as special cancellation postmarks for Moscow and St Petersburg.
