September 21, a postcard with an original stamp dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Zinovy Gerdt, an actor, a People's Artist of the USSR, is issued


Zinovy Efimovich Gerdt (1916–1996) was a Soviet and Russian theatre and cinema actor, recognized with the title of a People's Artist of the USSR (1990), a participant of the Great Patriotic War.

He became famous in cinema as a voice actor being behind the scenes for a long time. He gained recognition of the audience after his major parts of Kukushkin in The Magician and Panikovsky in the screen version of Ilf and Petrov’s novel The Little Golden Calf (1968). Later, the actor starred in such films as The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed (1979), Mary Poppins, Goodbye (1983), The Government Inspector (1996), and many more. He hosted many television programs since 1962.

Zinovy Gerdt was awarded the Order of Merit for the Motherland 3rd class in 1996. In the same year, he received the “For Contribution to the Russian Cinema” award of the President of the Russian Federation at the Kinotavr Open Russian Film Festival.

The postcard bears several images. An original stamp depicts a portrait of Zinovy Gerdt, and the main image features a scene from The Magician (Mosfilm, 1967).

Additionally, FSUE PTC “Marka” has manufactured a special cancellation postmarks for Moscow and St Petersburg.
