August 2, a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the I.A. Lihachev plant to be issued



I.A. Likhachev Moscow automobile plant is the oldest Russian automobile manufacturer. It was founded in 1916 as a part of the Russian government program dedicated to creation of the automobile industry. Firstly the main activity of Likhachev plant was car assembly with the imported details, eventually the plant developed manufacturing automobile engines, engaged in repairing and began to produce cars of native materials. There were several reconstructions of the plant since 1916.

Nowadays, the plant produces trucks and passenger cars with a high level, engines, automotive parts, huge assortment of various equipment and all kinds of equipment for their own needs.

The postage stamp features the automobile ZIL-130 on the background of the first building of the plant.

August 5, a postage stamp dedicated to the 450th anniversary of the Orel city to be issued


Orel city was founded in 1566 year such as a fortress to protect the southern borders of the Russian state. The city was called in honor of the Orel river (from the end of XVIII century the river was called Orlik), another reason of the name was a visual similarity of the confluence of two rivers reassembling the head and beak of a winged predator.

The city has a rich history. In the early 17th century there was located one of the centers of the peasant uprising, which was leaded by Ivan Bolotnikov. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Orel has become a major noble - merchant city. Also it became the center of bread trade and in 1937 it became the center of Orel region and turned into a big industrial city. The Orel city received the title of "City of military glory" for bravery, fortitude and heroism of Soviet soldiers during the great Patriotic war.

The Orel city is closely connected with names of outstanding people. There were born famous writers such as Ivan Turgenev, Leonid Andreev, Boris Zaytsev, the historian Timofey Granovsky, the polar researcher Vladimir Rusanov. In Orel were born, lived, studied and worked writers as Nikolay Leskov, Ivan Bunin, composers: Mikhail Glinka, Alexandr Gluhovtsev, state and public figures such as Mikhail Stakhovich, Peter Stolypin. The life of a prominent military leader Aleksey Yermolov, the hero of the Patriotic war of 1812, also connected with the Orel city.

August 5, a postage stamp with surprint dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the first prolonged space flight to be issued


In August 1961, German Titov, a pilot-cosmonaut, driving a space ship "Vostok-2", made the second in the Astronautics history of the world, after the flight of Yuri Gagarin, breaking more than 700 thousand km and making 17 turnovers around the Earth. It was the first record of the duration of being in space. During this time German Titov has successfully carried out several scientific experiments, made the first photo of the Earth from the space and on the personal example proved that people can live and work in space.

For that work German Titov was ranked by the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, was awarded by two orders of Lenin, the Order of October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of the III degrees "For merits before Motherland", medals, and lots of foreign Orders.

The stamp of 2010 "75 years since the G.S. Titov birthdates” executed overprint of the new face value "31 RUB", on the margins of stamp sheet there is a text: "55th anniversary of the first prolonged space flight".

August 6, a postage stamp dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Omsk city to be issued


Omsk was founded in 1716 year such as frontier fortress for protection from nomad raids and as a stronghold for further Russian conversation of Siberia. In the 19th century after the construction of the Western section of the Siberian railway, which connected Omsk with the other centers of Siberia began an intensive economic development of the Omsk city.

Nowadays, Omsk is a major industrial center with enterprises of various industries and the most important port on the Irtysh; also there are the strategic transport hubs of Siberia. Omsk takes the 8th place in terms of population in Russia.

The postage stamp features the architectural objects of the city, a monument of "Soldier" on the background of the Omsk fire tower of Stolypin State Agrarian University and residential buildings "House with a spire".

August 9, a postage stamp dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of the attendance Russians on the Mount Athon to be issued



The Mount Athon is a mountain and a peninsula on the North of Eastern Greece, it’s the largest center of Orthodox monasticism in the world, autonomic community of 20 Eastern Orthodox monasteries in direct spiritual jurisdiction of the Patriarch of Constantinople (since 1312).

For many centuries, the Mount Athon played a very important role in the development of spiritual and cultural life of Russia. The first known written mention of Russian monasticism on The Mount Athon refers to 1016, when it was built the monastery of Ksilurgu with a Church dedicated to the Dormition of the mother of God. In the XII century a new monastery of the St Panteleimon (now — Old or mountain Rusik) was available to Russians. The monastery was build on the shores of a small Bay on the South-West Peninsula. The monastery treasures are unique, there are the library containing over 20,000 ancient books and manuscripts, and a few precious relics, among them the relics of St. Panteleimon and the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, which was called Jerusalem.

In 2016 celebrated a significant event dedicated to the 1,000th anniversary of the Russian attendance on the Mount Athon.

Kaliningrad is the westernmost regional center of Russia, a city with a rich centuries-long history, unique geopolitical location and striking architectural appearance, it is a major transport hub, a sea and river port. Kaliningrad is famous for the largest deposits of amber and various products from this mineral by local craftsmen.

The postcard with an original stamp depicts the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Official Emblem, a scene from a game and the Host City landmarks.

August 19, a souvenir sheet with three stamps dedicated to 50th Anniversary of the Kizhi State Open-Air Museum of History, Architecture and Ethnography



The Kizhi Museum is unique historical, cultural and natural complex, a particularly valuable object of cultural heritage of Russia's peoples.

The beginning of the formation dates from the middle of the 20th century, when the territory of the Kizhi Ensemble was declared a state reserve (1945) and restoration work began. In 1951, the first monument – Oshevnev’s house – was brought to Kizhi Island. As an independent institution the Kizhi Open-Air Museum was established in 1966.

The basis of the museum's collection is an outstanding monument of Russian wooden architecture – the Kizhi Ensemble, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990.

The museum funds consists of over 53 000 exhibits. The collection includes objects of ethnography, archeology, works the Old Russian painting, modern paintings and drawings, manuscripts and printed books, documents and photographs. In general meeting the Kizhi Museum comprehensively reflects the material and spiritual culture of the indigenous peoples of Karelia.

The stamp depicts the Kizhi Ensemble consisting of two churches and the bell tower built in XVIII-XIX centuries, the souvenir sheet margins bear a schematic map of the Kizhi Open-Air Museum.

August 23, two postage stamps dedicated to the coats of arms of Velikiye Luki and Murmansk to be issued



The coat of arms of Murmansk is a rectangular heraldic shield divided into two parts – azure and gold ones. There are golden silhouettes of aurora polaris and a ship in azure field, there is a silhouette of fish in golden field.

Colours on the shield have the following meanings: azure and gold represent the polar night and the day, the golden colour of the lower part represents the wealth of the seas, which lets Murmansk fishermen earn their living. The silhouette of a ship reflects Murmansk as a major seaport, and a silhouette of fish represents the main industry of the city – the fishing. Aurora polaris underlines the geographical location of the city – in the Arctic Circle.

The coat of Murmansk is included in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with number 738.

The historical coat of arms, approved in 1781, was taken as a basis of the coat of arms of Velikiye Luki. Its disclosure reads as follows: “There are three golden large bows in the red field”. The red color is a symbol of labor, life-affirming strength, courage, beauty and a festival. Gold symbolizes strength, greatness, intelligence, generosity, wealth.

The coat of Velikiye Luki is included in the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation with number 791.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ is set to take place from 14 June until 15 July 2018. The tournament will be hosted at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities.

This year the stadium stamp series depict the stadiums dedicated the following stadiums:

- Volgograd Arena;
- Ekaterinburg Arena;
- Rostov Arena;
- Samara Arena.

August 30, a postage stamp dedicated to Russian Arctic National Park to be issued



Russian Arctic National Park is the northernmost specially protected natural land area of Russia. The park is situated on two polar archipelagoes.

The unique geographical location of the park defines a number of its features and the wide variety of creatures.

All the year round bowhead whale dwell in the sea near the islands, herds of narwhals, rare species of sea-unicorns, come inshore.

In the spring time polar bears come into the world there and begin their life journey in the ice.

The main tasks of the national park is to preserve ecosystems and nature-made objects, to protect rare species of animals and plants, to conduct scientific researches and to provide education.

Russian Arctic National Park is of great interest for the development of ecological and cultural tourism.
