The New Year is the most favorite and long-awaited holiday for most Russians and its celebration is an integral part of any child or adult’s life
In Russia, the New Year has been celebrated by the Gregorian style since 1 January 1700. That day began with street parties and folk festivals on the Red Square in Moscow. Guns were pounding away, fireworks were being launched, and people were singing, dancing, congratulating and giving presents to each other as a celebration of the holiday. It was then that celebrating the New Year and making wishes under the chimes of the clock have become a good tradition.
