December 3, three stamps in the series “Outstanding Lawyers of Russia” dedicated to Nikolai V. Muraviev, Konstantin P. Pobedonostsev and Nikolai S. Tagantsev will be released into circulation



Nikolai V. Muraviev (1850-1908) was the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Russian Empire, a member of the State Council, a well-known lawmaker. A domestic judicial system was reformed during his work: in 1896, a Mandate of prosecutorial supervision of judicial chambers and district courts was issued, the introduction of legal regulations in Russia was completed.


Konstantin P. Pobedonostsev (1827-1907) was a Chief procurator of the Holy Synod, a member of the State Council of the Russian Empire, the legal scholar. He was an author of numerous works on the legal, historical, social issues, predetermined the development of not only the legal but also the political life of the country for many years.


Nikolai S. Tagantsev (1843-1923) was a statesman, famous criminologist, scholar and law professor. His legislative initiatives in the field of criminal law and judicial laws of the Russian Empire got ahead of its time in the decades, and scientific activity of the lawyer influenced the modern Russian law.

December 3, a stamp dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy will be released into circulation



Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy is the oldest and the world-famous institution of higher education, leading scientific, methodical and consulting center of agricultural education in Russia.

The date of foundation is considered to be December 3, 1865, when the Petrovskaya agricultural and forestry academy was created by the imperial order of Emperor Alexander II to train competent professionals capable to organize agricultural production on a scientific basis.

In 2008, the University was included in the State Code of particularly valuable objects of cultural heritage of peoples of the Russian Federation by Presidential Decree.

The stamp depicts a commemorative emblem of the University.

On 9 December, seven stamps dedicated to Russian football legends will be issued as part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Philatelic Program.

Football is one of the most popular sports both in Russia and all around the world. Representatives of different generations, interests and convictions play it on professional and amateur levels or whole-heartedly support their national team as devoted football aficionados.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ will be the 21st edition of the tournament and is set to take place from 14 June until 15 July 2018. For the first time in history, Russia has been chosen to host the FIFA World Cup™.

The postage stamps depict athletes, who have gained top score and glorified national football at international scale.



Valentin Borisovich Bubukin (1933–2011) was a forward, a USSR national team captain, a coach. Participant of 1958 and 1962 world cup tournaments, 1960 UEFA European Nations' Cup holder.



Yuriy Nikolayevich Voynov (1931–2003) was a midfielder, a coach. Was recognized one of the best players of 1958 world cup tournaments, a 1960 UEFA European Nations' Cup holder.



Valentin Kozmich Ivanov (1934–2011) was a forward, a USSR national team captain, a coach. Participant of 1958, 1962 and 1966 world cup tournaments, 1956 Olympic champion, 1960 UEFA European Nations' Cup holder.



Gavriil Dmitriyevich Kachalin (1911–1995) was a midfielder, a USSR national team head coach 1955-1958, 1960-1962, 1968-1970. Under his leadership the national team participated in 1958, 1962 and 1970 world cup tournaments, won at the Games of the XVI Olympiad and 1960 UEFA European Nations' Cup.



Sergey Sergeyevich Salnikov (1925–1984) was a forward, a coach. Participant of 1958 world cup tournament, 1956 Olympic champion.



Eduard Anatolyevich Streltsov (1937–1990) was a forward and a participant of 1958 world cup tournament. Torpedo Stadium in Moscow is named after him.



Lev Ivanovich Yashin (1929–1990) was a goalkeeper and a USSR national team captain. Participant of 1958-1970 world cup tournaments, 1956 Olympic champion, a 1960 UEFA European Nations' Cup holder. In 1963, he received a Ballon d'Or. FIFA acknowledged him the best 20th century goalkeeper.

December 10, a New Year postage stamp will be released into circulation



New Year is one of the main celebrations for most people in Russia and its traditions are an integral part of every child’ and adult’s life. New Year is celebrated on January 1 by the decree of Peter I in Russia from 1700.

New Year celebrations for each person has a particular value. For many people this event is associated with the crunch of snow underfoot, the smell of tangerines and warm family atmosphere.

The Moscow Kremlin is the main symbol of Russia and New Year, because the chimes of Spassky Tower herald the coming of a New Year.

On 16 December, two postcards with an original stamp dedicated to Ekaterinburg and Volgograd, the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Host Cities, will be issued



The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ will take place in 11 cities: Ekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Saransk, Sochi and Volgograd.

Volgograd is the largest city in the eastern part of the Volga Region, stretching along the Volga shore for nearly 60 kilometers. In the middle of 19th century, a canal connecting the Don and the Volga was excavated. The city is called “a port of five seas” since then.

Ekaterinburg is the fourth most populous city after Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Novosibirsk. The city is located at the border between Europe and Asia. Ekaterinburg ranks first in the rating of most promising Russian cities with million-plus population and tops the Most Business-Attractive Russian Cities list.
