September 24, a postage stamp dedicated to the Russian nuclear industry is to be released into circulation



The Russian nuclear industry is one of the most advanced in the world in terms of scientific and technical developments in the design of reactors, nuclear fuel, nuclear power plants operating experience, staff qualification. The enterprises of this industry gained the great experience in solving large-scale problems, such as the creation of the world's first nuclear power plant (1954) and the development of fuel for it.

The 70th anniversary of the national nuclear industry, the creation of which began with the establishment of the First Main Directorate of the Council of People's Commissars, celebrated in 2015.

Today, the nuclear industry, bringing together 260,000 people at more than 400 enterprises, is one of the global technology leaders in Russia. The industry comprises four large research and manufacturing complexes: enterprises of nuclear fuel cycle, atomic power generation, nuclear weapons complex and research facilities.

State Corporation “Rosatom” is the largest generating company in Russia. It ranked the 2nd place in the world in uranium reserves and the 3rd place in the volume of uranium mining; the 2nd place in the world for nuclear power generation, providing 36% of the world uranium enrichment services and 17% of the market of nuclear fuel.

The stamp depicts Rosatom, a systemically important company against the background of industrial objects silhouettes: an icebreaker, nuclear power plant and a tomographic scanner.

Additionally, FSUE PTC “Marka” will manufacture an illustrated cover with four postage stamps and a first day cover with cancellation (Moscow) inside.
