September 15, a UN-themed stamp is issued on an opening day of a 70th UN General Assembly session

 

The United Nations (UN) is an international and intergovernmental organization created to support and strengthen peace and security, and to promote cooperation between states. Founded in 1945, it is currently made up of 193 states.

In the 21st century, the issues on the UN agenda are peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, human rights, disarmament, terrorism, humanitarian and health emergencies, food production, and more.

The UN also provides a forum for its members to collectively decide on the means of solving global problems.

The postage stamp depicts a UN 70 Logo against the background of the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York.

Additionally, FSUE PTC “Marka” has manufactured an illustrated cover with the stamp and a first day cover with cancellation (Moscow) inside.
