June 2, the postage stamp dedicated to the Mining and Metallurgical Company “Norilsk Nickel” is to be released into circulation



June 23, 1935 The Council of People's Commissars of the USSR adopted a resolution “On the construction of the Norilsk Combine”, what marked the beginning of construction country’s largest mining and metallurgical complex on the Taimyr Peninsula.
Today, “Norilsk Nickel” is the world's largest producer of nickel and palladium, platinum and copper. The company also produces by-products - cobalt, rhodium, silver, gold, iridium, ruthenium, selenium, tellurium and sulfur.
The principal activities of the company “Norilsk Nickel” are prospecting, exploration, mining and processing of minerals, production, marketing and sale of non-ferrous and precious metals.

The stamp depicts a metallurgist with scoop trams, helicopter and metallurgical plant on the background.
