April 2, three postage stamps in the series “The 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. The Medals” are to be released into circulation

At the final stage of World War II, when German troops were expelled from the territory of the Soviet Union, the Red Army continued its offensive outside of the Soviet Union. Tough and bloody battles took place on all fronts.

The country's leadership decided to develop and establish new awards, both for the defense of the Soviet cities and regions, and for liberation and capture of European cities, where were the most fierce fightings.

The Medals in this series have been established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of June 9, 1945 and divided into two groups: "For the Capture" and "For the Liberation".

Awards were given to soldiers of the Red Army, the Navy and the NKVD, who took part in the assault and the liberation of these cities, as well as the organizers and leaders of military operations.
The stamps depict the medals "For the Liberation of Warsaw", "For the Liberation of Prague", "For the Liberation of Belgrade".
