March 19, two postage stamps in the series “Submariner Heroes” are to be released into circulation

During the Great Patriotic War surface and submarine ships provided effective assistance to Red Army troops in military operations in multiple directions; they conducted combat operations to break down the enemy water communications. Heroic deeds of the “Shch-406” (under the command of captain Evgeniy Osipov) and “S-13” submarines crews (captained by Alexander Marinesko) are widely known.

Evgeniy Ya. Osipov (1913-1943) was a captain II awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the excellent performance of combat missions in the Great Patriotic War and his valor and heroism. He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Patriotic War (1st class).

Alexander I. Marinesko (1913-1963) was a captain III awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) for courage and heroism shown while opposing the Nazi aggressors in the Great Patriotic War.
