July 28, a postal stamp “Latin American Politicians. Hugo Rafael Chávex Frías” is to be released into circulation



Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías (1954–2013) was a politician, a military leader and the President of Venezuela from 1999 until his death in 2013. He was the leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

In 1982, Hugo Chávez, together with his comrades-in-arms, an undercover organization called Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200 (MBR-200). He attempted a coup d’état February 4, 1992. The coup failed and Hugo Chávez had to surrender himself to the government. In 1994, Chávez was freed by President Rafael Caldera and founded the Fifth Republic Movement soon after.

Enjoying incredible popularity, Hugo Chávez have won 4 consecutive presidential elections. The last elections were held in October 2012, when Chávez won the mandate to rule the country till 2019.

The stamp depicts a portrait of Chavez against a waving flag of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on the background.

And FDC with cancellation (Moscow) has been prepared for the release.
