On October 7, a souvenir sheet “The XXII Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi” is issued




The history of Olympic Torch Relays began in 1936 and in 1952 it was preceded for the first time the Olympic Winter Games.

The Olympic Torch Relay «Sochi 2014» will be the longest both in terms of time and distance in the history of the Olympic Winter Games. The Torch Relay started on October 7, 2013 and will come to an end in 4 months on the day of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, February 7, 2014.The Olympic Torch will cover over 65,000 kilometers in 123 days; it will be travelling in the hands of sportsmen, by car, train, plane and even on a Russian «troika» — a traditional Russian sleigh by horses or reindeers in full view of 130 million inhabitants in 2900 towns in the country, will visit the capitals of all 83 subjects of the Russian Federation.
The postage stamp depicts the Olympic Torch Relay Emblem of the XXII Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi. There is a map of the Russian Federation, a Torch Relay, views of the Moscow Kremlin and Marine Station in Sochi on the margins of souvenir sheet.
