On January 30, six stamps “ Cities of Military Glory” will be issued

City of Military Glory is an honorary title bestowed upon the citizenry of Russian cities, where soldiers had displayed courage and heroism during the Great Patriotic War.

These series of postage stamps will depict Arkhangelsk, Bryansk, Volokolamsk, Kalach-na-Donu, Kozelsk, Nalchik

 

 Arkhangelsk

Decree № 1389 “Awarding the title of honour “City of Military Glory” to the city of Arkhangelsk” was signed by the President of the Russian Federation on December 5, 2009.

The postage stamp depicts the cartouche dedicated to feats of Soviet arms near Arkhangelsk, which shows the bomber aircraft  Ilyushin Il-4, the class minesweeper T53, 58 and the 76 mm air-defense gun M1938.

Bryansk

Decree № 339 “Awarding the title of honour “City of Military Glory” to the city of Bryansk” was conferred by the President of the Russian Federation on Mars 25, 2010.

The postage stamp presents the cartouche dedicated to feats of Soviet arms near Bryansk, which shows the light bomber Lisunov Li-2 (PS-84), the BA-20 armored car M1936 et the 50 mm light infantry mortar M1938.

Volokolamsk

Decree №  338 “Awarding the title of honour “City of Military Glory” to the city of Volokolamsk” was signed by the President of the Russian Federation on Mars 25, 2010.

In the postage stamp, there is the cartouche with the tankette Т-27, the 152 mm howitzer M1909/30 et the biplane Polikarpov Po-2 (also U-2).

Kalach-na-Donu

Decree №  342 “Awarding the title of honour “City of Military Glory”” was conferred by the President of the Russian Federation on Mars 25, 2010.

The postage stamp deals with the cartouche and  the light bomber aircraft ANT-51 (Su-2), tank Т-38 and light self-propelled anti-tank gun ZiS-30.

Kozelsk

Decree № 1388 “Awarding the title of honour “City of Military Glory” to the city of Kozelsk” was signed by the President of the Russian Federation on December 5, 2009.

In the postage stamp, there is the cartouche with the armoured train “Kozma Minin”, the reconnaissance bomber aircraft  Polikarpov R-5 and the 107 mm divisional gun M1940 (M-60).

Nalchik

Decree № 340 “Awarding the title of honour “City of Military Glory”” was signed by the President of the Russian Federation on Mars 25, 2010.

The postage stamp presents  the cartouche with the 82 millimeter calibre mortar M-37, the 76 mm mountain gun M1938, the M4 air-defense gun M1931
