On May 8, a stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia was put into postal circulation



The State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (prior to 1998, the Museum of Revolution) is a unique cultural heritage site of federal significance, one of the largest centers for the preservation, study and presentation of the history of Russia from the second half of the 19th century to the early 21st century. It was instituted by the Resolution of the Central Executive Committee on May 9, 1924. The Museum is accommodated in one of the most beautiful buildings in Moscow, which in 1831-1917 hosted the Moscow English Club — the center of public opinion in the 19th century, whose members at different times were M. Kutuzov, A. Pushkin, I. Krylov, A. Griboyedov, L. Tolstoy and others.

At present time, the Museum offers a new, high-tech museum display combining unique artefacts and modern multimedia technologies. The Museum of Contemporary History of Russia is the only museum in the country presenting the Contemporary Russian History and modern life. Exposition Russia. XXI Century: Challenges of the Time and Development Priorities that opened in December of 2016 is the first experience of museum presentation of the latest period of Russian history from 1985 to the present day and is unequalled in other Russian museums

The museum is a dynamically developing discussion, scientific, educational and enlightening platform, where topical issues of recent history and modern times are under debate. There is an open historical lecture hall, which gives word to leading scientists and lecturers of Russian universities, well-known political scientists, public and political figures, and representatives of creative intellectuals.
