This joint Russian-Iranian issue is devoted to one of the most important problems of the modern ecology - the problem of preserving the nature of the caspian Sea. The stamps feature representatives of the unique caspian fauna: a Caspian seal with the calf, the Caspian mammal; and a beluga - a sturgeon. The stamps also feature a symbolic picture of a water-drop with the contour of the Caspian sea and the text that reads "Let's preserve the nature of the Caspian Sea".
