In the left part of the stamp there are letters D and Sh (the composer's monogram) notated in music, and his facsimile (as shown on the medal as well), as well as a strings quartete which symbolises Shostakovich's creative work. The text reads "The International Music Festival "D.D.Shostakovich and the world music culture" sponsored by Izvestia newspaper".
