On June 1, four postage stamps dedicated to domestic road-building machinery will be put into postal circulation

Russia produces a great variety of types of road-building machinery. Depending on the field of application, machines are divided into the following groups: for preparatory work (brush cutters, grubbers, rippers, bulldozers, scoop shovels, graders, and scrapers); for laying and maintenance of road pavements (angle cutters, asphalt pavers, and road rollers); for production and transportation of concrete mixtures (cement lorries, concrete mixers and pumps); for construction of artificial structures (hammers and pile drivers); for working of quarries and material treatment (loading appliances); for road cleaning, as well as crushing and screening equipment, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic conveying plants.

The postage stamps are devoted to highly efficient modern road-building machinery: soil compactor DM-614, road grader UMG AG-140, tracked asphalt paver ASF-G-4-04 and frontload truck ChETRA PK12.

On June 3, a postcard with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 175th Birth Anniversary of Aleksander Grigoriev, a botanist, an ethnographer, an Honorary Member of the Russian Geographical Society, will be put into postal circulation in the Geographic Projects of Russia series

Alexander Grigoriev (1848-1908) was a Russian botanist and ethnographer, the Secretary of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society (1883-1903).

In 1878, he was admitted as a Full Member of the Geographical Society, and in 1879, the Society sent him on an official trip on board steam schooner Nordenshöld with the task to circumvent the continent of Asia from the south and come to the rescue of Baron A. Nordenshöld, who wintered at that time with the Vega steamer off the coast of Siberia. The schooner took the bottom near the Japanese island of Hokkaido. Taking advantage of the involuntary stop in Japan, Grigoriev lent himself to ethnographic researches on the Ainu.

On his return to Russia in 1880, he donated his assembled collections: zoological - to the Imperial Academy of Sciences, and ethnographic - to the Geographical Society. In the same year, he was elected as the Secretary of the Ethnography Department of the Geographical Society. In 1887, he participated in the expedition of the Geographical Society to Novaya Zemlya, where he assembled nature-historical collections, which he later transferred to the Museum of the Academy of Sciences. In 1889, he was one of the Society's delegates at the geographical congress in Paris.

The last Grigoriev's major venture was organization of the Tibetan expedition of G. Tsybikov (1899-1902) and preparation for the publication of the description of this trip, A Buddhist Pilgrim at the Shrines of Tibet.

The main illustration shows a portrait of A. Grigoriev, the background provides his photographs of a baggage-man and a temple in ancient Kamakur, as well as a RGS logo; the commemorative stamp features symbolic images of geographical projects.

On June 7, a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th Birth Anniversary of poet Rasul Gamzatov will be put into postal circulation

Rasul Gamzatov (1923-2003) was an outstanding poet, prose writer, essay writer, public and political figure, and translator; a Hero of Socialist Labor (1974) and a national poet of Dagestan ASSR (1959).

In 1939, he graduated from the Avar Pedagogical School and worked as a schoolteacher until 1941, then as an assistant director in a theater, a journalist in newspapers and at radio stations. In 1945-1950, he studied at the A.M. Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow. From 1951 until the end of his life, he headed the writer's organization of Dagestan.

Writings by Gamzatov have been translated into dozens of languages of Russia and elsewhere. Many of Gamzatov's poems have become songs, such as Zhuravli (The Cranes), and Ischezli Solnechnie Dni (Gone are the Sunny Days). Many composers used to work in close coordination with Gamzatov, including Dmitry Kabalevsky, Yan Frenkel, Raymond Pauls, Yury Antonov, Alexandra Pakhmutova; among the performers of songs to his poems there were Anna German, Galina Vishnevskaya, Muslim Magomaev, Joseph Kobzon, Valery Leontiev, Mark Bernes, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Lev Leshchenko and others.

The postage stamp provides a portrait of Rasul Gamzatov against mountains and flying cranes.

On June 8, a postage stamp dedicated to the presidency of the Russian Federation in the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union will be put into postal circulation

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an international organization of regional economic integration possessing international legal personality established by the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The EAEU ensures freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor, as well as conduct of coordinated, harmonized or unified policy in economic sectors.

On January 1, 2023, Russia assumed the presidency of the Eurasian Economic Union. Under present-day conditions of global markets and the unfavorable global political environment, the member states of the Union have managed not only to stabilize the macroeconomic situation, but also to improve a number of key indicators.

The postage stamp features an emblem designed purposefully for the year of the presidency of the Russian Federation in the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union.

On June 12, two postage stamps dedicated to the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic will be put into postal circulation in the Regions of Russia series

The Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation. The capital is the city of Donetsk. The population of the DNR is 2.2 million (2022). The territory of the Republic is covered with numerous spoil heaps, grain fields and landscape parks. There is a major port on the coast of the Azov Sea; the territory of the Republic hosts the largest industrial complex; and the earth’s depths contain huge reserves of coal and lithium. The Republic is one of the largest industrial regions of the world. The key industries are coal mining, ferrous metallurgy, and coke-chemical industry. Also well-developed are mineral salt mining, chemical industry, heavy engineering, and production of construction materials.

The postage stamp features the Saur-Grave memorial complex, the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Donetsk, the Toretskaya mine spoil heaps, roses planted in the cities of the Republic, and fields of wheat.

The Lugansk People's Republic (LNR) is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation. The capital is the city of Lugansk. The population of the LNR is 1.4 million (2022). The economy of the Republic is based on coal mining, metallurgy and agriculture. The industrial potential of the region is fulfilled thanks to coal mining, machine building, metallurgy and chemical industry. The production of construction materials makes progress owing to vast reserves of mineral resources (limestone, sandstone, clay). Agriculture is represented by grain growing as well as vegetable and sunflower crops cultivation.

The postage stamp features the Monument to Soldiers Liberators in the city of Lugansk, a Novodruzhesk mine, a temple complex of glorification of the Passion of Christ in the nunnery in honor of the Holy Royal Martyr Grand Duchess Olga of Lugansk.

On June 15, a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of Aeroflot Airlines will be put into postal circulation

The history of the company began in 1923, when application for shares of the Dobrolyot Russian Voluntary Air Fleet Society was invited on March 17. On July 15, 1923, the USSR’s first regular 420 km long passenger airline Moscow - Nizhniy Novgorod was opened. In 1932, the abbreviated name Aeroflot was given to the USSR civil air fleet.

Today “Aeroflot - Russian Airlines” is a Russian public-private air company operating domestic and international flights. Combined with its subsidiaries Rossiya and Pobeda, it forms the “Aeroflot Group”, an aviation holding company, which is among the world's top 20 airlines in terms of passenger traffic.

On June 15, a postage stamp dedicated to the 225th Birth Anniversary of Alexander Gorchakov, a Chancellor of the Russian Empire, will be put into postal circulation in the History of Russian Diplomacy series

Alexander Gorchakov (1798-1883) was the chief of the Russian foreign policy department during the reign of Alexander II, a Chancellor of the Russian Empire (1867), His Serene Highness (1871).

In 1856-1882, Gorchakov was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which time he was engaged in the change of the international situation and the correction of the dispiriting state of Russia in the global context after the Crimean War of 1853-1856. Gorchakov's primary goals were to change the conditions of the Peace of Paris and the issue of the neutral status of the Black Sea. To that end, he settled for rapprochement with France and Prussia, and by 1871, he had achieved the abolition of the Black Sea neutral status. He participated in the establishment of the Union of Three Emperors (1873): Russia, Germany and Austria-Hungary.

The culmination of Gorchakov's diplomatic career was the Berlin Congress of 1878, which at the insistence of Western powers revised the terms of the San Stefano Peace Treaty that completed the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. Russia was forced to accept most of the claims of Austria-Hungary and Britain, related primarily to Bulgaria and Transcaucasia. After the Berlin Congress, Gorchakov retained the honorary title of the Chancellor of State and became its last holder.

On June 20, a postal block dedicated to the 165th Anniversary of the introduction of the first Russian postage stamps will be put into postal circulation

The first postage stamps were issued in the Russian Empire in 1857; their official application for letter post payment throughout the country began on January 1, 1858. The author of the drawing of the first Russian stamp was Franz Michael Kepler; the miniature was made in two colors (brown and blue) and featured the coat of arms of the Post Office and the mantle.

Postage stamps of the RSFSR were issued from 1917 to 1923. The first standard stamp of that period was put into circulation on November 7, 1918.

Postage stamps of the USSR were issued from 1923 to 1991. The first series of four plots was dedicated to the opening of the first All-Russian agricultural and artisan-industrial exhibition.

In January of 1992, the first postage stamps of the Russian Federation came out. In February of 1992. The two miniatures provide the images of St. George the Victorious and the Millennium of Russia Monument in Veliky Novgorod.

The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation (Minsport of Russia) traces its history back to the establishment in 1923 of the Supreme Council of Physical Culture under the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, to be transformed into the Ministry in 2008.

On June 30, two postage stamps dedicated to the 125th Anniversary of the Gorodets Lighthouse and the Sarych Lighthouse will be put into postal circulation in the Lighthouses of Russia series

The Gorodets Lighthouse was commissioned for operation in 1898. It is located on the shore of the White Sea in the northeastern part of the Kola Peninsula. Nowadays, it is a multifunctional complext, which includes a lighthouse in the form of a stone yellow tower, standing high above the red one-story tall house, a lighthouse technical building, two duplex dwelling houses and outbuildings. The tower is 18 m high from the base and 55 m from sea level. The lighthouse beacons with white flashing lights for up to 26 miles.

The Sarych Lighthouse was founded in 1898. It is located on the shore of the Black Sea in the southwestern part of the Crimean Peninsula. The lighthouse is a tower of 12 meters high made of cast iron resembling a giant chess piece. The total height of the building is 37.5 m. The Sarych Lighthouse is equipped with up-to-date instrumentation, a radio navigation system and radio equipment. The white light of the lighthouse is visible to ships from more than 20 miles away.
