August 9, an envelope with an original stamp dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of John Galsworthy, a writer, to be issued as part of the World Cultural Luminaries series


John Galsworthy (1867–1933) was an English writer, novelist and playwright, and the Nobel Prize in Literature winner (1932).

Two trilogies, The Forsyte Saga (1922) and its sequel, A Modern Comedy (1928), where he demonstrated morals and psychology of the English commercial upper-middle class, won him world fame and the Nobel Prize. John Galsworthy authored 20 novels, 27 plays, 3 poetry collections, 173 stories, 5 essays, 700 letters, and many other sketches on various topics.

The envelope with an original stamp contains a composition of symbols of various kinds of art: a lyre, a palette, a book, a quill, a column and a theatre curtain, as well as a portrait of John Galsworthy against the background of a multi-volume edition of The Forsyte Saga his books, as well as several illustrations to his works.

Additionally, JSC “Marka” will manufacture a special cancellation postmark for Moscow.
