Army General Yakov Grigorevich Kreizer was a Soviet field commander and a Hero of the Soviet Union.

Yakov Kreizer served in the Red Army from February 1921. During the Great Patriotic War, he participated in battles on various fronts and in different positions. At the beginning of July 1941, Colonel Kreizer organized the battle action of a division, which delayed the enemy attack for two days by a counterattack in the area of Borisov, Minsk Oblast (Belarus). While fighting near Orsha, Yakov Kreizer ensured the success of battle actions on the main front line. He inspired soldiers by his own example and bravery. Yakov Kreiser was awarded the title of a Hero of the Soviet Union together with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal for the successful military leadership and for courage and heroism.

He continued serving in the Soviet Army after the war. From 1945 till 1963, he commanded various armies and troops of military districts, and later became a chief of the Vityaz Central Officer Courses and a military inspector-adviser of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR.

He was awarded with five Orders of Lenin, four Orders of the Red Banner, an Order of Suvorov 1st and 2nd class, an Order of Kutuzov 1st class, an Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 1st class, and foreign awards.
